How much is the yam, cattle or tomato contributing to the federation account?

And how much is oil contributing to the same account?

You run your cattle, tomato, yam, other agricultural businesses and mining yourselves. Let the Niger Deltans run their oil businesses themselves and pay taxes to the federal government where applicable.

Is that too difficult to understand?
I just tire 4 dis people. It's as simple as that.

This guy is sick for this statement he made.

A barrel of crude oil is $50
While a tuber of yam is $1

That means a barrel of crude oil can afford 50 tubers of yam.

We don't even need to waste money buying yam when we can produce as many as we want.

My father was a farmer who produced trucks load of yam, cassava and three leaf yam

But Abacha's govermrnt destroyed his farmland and turned it to pipeline for your greedy ass.

You guys has caused us much pains and yet you open your mouth to utter trash?

I am not advocating for division but you guys must show us some respect

At a point, we in Benue challenged them that okay,’ let them go and drink their oil, we would eat our yams and then see who will survive.’.........

If you guys honestly believe this your assertion WHY then is it difficult for your guys from the north to agree to a simple resolution which is to implement the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference reports or for the members of the national assembly to simply legislate that we return to fiscal federalism like we had in the sixties before the military forcefully shoved unitary system down our throats.

To add insult upon injury the president said he never bothered to read the report and he would rather it should be confined to the archives.

Let each state or region develop at its own pace. Let reduce power at the center. Shikena!!!

In as much as i don't support the way the Federal Government is treating the Niger Delta, here is one thing you should know partaking to your question.

The economy has enjoyed sustained economic growth for a decade, with annual real GDP increasing by around 7%; it was 6.3% in 2014. The non-oil sector has been the main driver of growth, with services contributing about 57%, while manufacturing and agriculture, respectively contributed about 9% and 21%. The economy is thus diversifying and is becoming more services-oriented, in particular through retail and wholesale trade, real estate, information and communication.

You seriously expect someone from the Niger Delta to comprehend or worse still agree with what you just wrote? The "AWA OYEL" crew couldn't care less o.
They should be given resource control abeg, so they can develop their lands and most importantly the minds of their people on time before "oyel" becomes yesterday's news.
That in itself will help the rest of the country focus on other aspects of revenue generation and long-lasting development.

why would any business man relinquish his investment when he can order army to vanquish you?
will you allow Armed robber to chase you from your place of work or abode without a fight.
they should ask their governors and senators for their money. not investors who have paid their useless elders off.
It surprises me when people keep saying go and ask their governors and their senators for their money.
For your information the level of development in the Niger delta now was done by the people through their governors not through the federal government. If you have been to the niger delta before the advent of OBJ civillian regime and then you go there now, then you would know that the governors in those region have tried, would you talk about akwaibom, cross river, rivers state, edo state,Ondo and even bayelsa that had no road after years of fending for the nation.
I am not saying they have done superbly but they have brought life to their people at least when you start counting fast developing states in nigeria before you count one single state in the north you would have counted at least 3 from the niger delta

Mumu, I'm sure you don't know that Port Harcourt has the same number of Millionaires as Abuja or even more. Yes! Last time it was revealed that PH and Abuja has 1000 millionaires respectively and there were no figures for that of Kano.

Do you that one of the Richest men in Nigeria presently is also from Delta State? Google "Igho Sanomi" and be enlightened.,

And hey, nobody is losing Bendel states. Niger Delta is One, not two. The only reason the GDP of Lagos is higher than that of Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom is the absence of True Federalism. And just so you know Delta state has the highest Per Capita income in Nigeria followed by Rivers which is also the mist sustainable state in Nigeria.

Pls speak with facts.
bryan1991:
south africa, kenya, ethopia, tanzania etc..... they don´t have oil

mind you now you are producing 2million barels par day maybe by the time you lose Bendel states, the amout will drop drastically. you will still see dat we will still be oil producing countrie and before you find buy for your oil we will also find other means to generate revenue.

but you will lose the lagos and abuja cities forever.

and all your milionairs will claim citizenship with us because all their live archivements and their family are already in lagos or abuja or kano. then you will have to state from the begining while we will continue with our progress

Damn it!!!

Leave the mumu.

Good. Fuel your cars with yam powder. grin cheesy tongue

Oil will conveniently pay for food import from Cameroon & Ghana & American rice. Canned tomato will replace Ebola tomato.

Oil money will be used to fund greenhouses for vegetables/legumes. Fruits already abound in SS.

SS produce yam, cassava, cocoyam & lots of plantain. Plantain/amala is even healthier than calorie-loaded yam sef.

Let's see how much LNG & petrol/diesel your N250 yam tubers will buy you.

They should hurry up and go their own way. If he doesn't push for separation, he must be a gargantuan FOOL. cool

the bolded is what y'all use in consoling yourselves. Global oil prices fluctuate all the time, its no news. It is worthless but still our major source of revenue that would be used to fund the budget.

NB: Oil will never be as worthless as yam!!
allthingsgood:

Yea that will be better. Everybody run ur own and pay taxes and lets see who will suffer more.

NB oil is already worthless in international market.

I tire o. What do they think about 70% of people in rural areas in SS do? Sit at home and sleep all day?

Edo & Delta are first & second in plantain production in 9ja. Ondo third. Yam, cocoa, cocoyam, cassava, oil palm, timber and vegetable (okro, pumpkin leaves, garden eggs, tomatoes, green leaves, pepper, etc) are normal farm produce there.

I don't know where they got the idea that SS has no food. Some people recently just focus on cassava & plantain because they are easier to maintain many acres of it, make more money compared to yam that requires more tending & relatively cheap to buy from the North. Just commercial calculations. cheesy grin

If not for the destruction of farmland due to oil exploration, who will look northwards for food?

We can produce virtually everything we need to survive even without oil.

We never bought food from the north even before the oil was discovered but we survived. The oil is just a plus.

The same people who invaded our land through military rule, came in and destroyed our farmland so we can depend on them for food.

If an annual revenue from crude oil sales is invested in different sector in the Niger Delta, do you think we'll remain the same?
