SUG UNEC Sit At Home/Hostel Strike/Protest, Day 2 Update!!

The Sit at Home strike action embarked upon by the Students of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus has entered its 2nd day running with the union being positive and closer to achieving their goal of generator light in UNEC hostels from 7pm to 12 midnight.
.
On this faithful Tuesday, no shuttle was seen running within the University premises within the stipulated time of morning till 12 noon. All streets were seen deserted and only SUG officials were seen moving around, enforcing the strike action, though all students are in 100% compliance as the want better welfare and the Union officials had little to no work to do in enforcement.
.
Members of the Union today also extended the strike action to the University' teaching hospital at old site where Union members reportedly visited and locked the class rooms while pasting their Posters which reads, "SUG UNEC, No Light, No Lecture, Keep Off".
.
At the moment, all students of the University are in 100% compliance with the strike action.
.
In a related development today, members of the Union were invited to a meeting by the students affairs department of the University, with regards to the ongoing strike action and how to reach a common resolution.
.
At the meeting attended by the Joint Consultative Council of the Student Union, and the officials of the Student affairs department, the Union presented her 5 point demands as follows:
1. Installation of new 1500KVA generator, enough to supply light to all hostels of the University.
.
2. Extension of generator light to the University Library, Multi Purpose Building, Coscharis, Lecture halls and other classrooms in the University currently not powered by the generator so that the students can read at night.
.
3. Activation of the WIFI Services in the hostels.
.
4. Extension of lecture periods and examination dates to compensate for days lost in the peaceful protest, whenever the demands are met.
.
5. That light, when returned, should be provided to all hostels from 7pm to 12 midnight to enable our students read and study properly.
.
The students Union humbly requests that the above listed demands are met urgently and emphasize that the ongoing Sit at Home/Hostel strike action of the students would continue until her demands for better welfare condition of UNEC students is met.
.
As such, we thank our students from their support thus far, and plead with them to join us in this struggle, so we can suffer today and enjoy tomorrow for a better UNEC.
.
No student should be seen going for any classes. We stand as one!!!
