Every terrorist start as a militant. Time, condition, challenge from constituted authority, opposition etc change a militant to terrorist. A militant is a terrorist. A terrorist was a militant.

I doubt you read the op with comprehension. If you did, you obviously decided to ignore where it clearly states several times that militants do not make use of violence and don't cause destruction of life and property

Hmm... But a militant is likely to turn a terrorist if his demand is not met...

Are you trying to justifying the activities of militants? Both are deadly and instill fear on civilian population and cause colossal damage of properties.
See how Merriam dictionary defined it "Simple Definition of militant : having or showing a desire or willingness to use strong, extreme, and sometimes forceful methods to achieve something.
"Simple Definition of terrorism : the use of violent acts to frighten the people in an area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal.
Trying to exonerate one to be holier than the other is a great disservice to any system in the world.

this is obviously wrong. Even from your own definitions Mr. OP it is glaring that there is a gaping hole. If Militants do not use violence and terrorists are those who use violence against civilians, then who or what are those who use violence but not against civilians?

To be more lucid, terrorists are specifically people who use the threat of violence to civilians and to coerce others or obtain a desired outcome. Terrorism is the act of using the threat of violence to civilians either through the promise of violence, or by actual violence, to obtain a desired goal. The defining trait of a terrorists is the threat of violence (could be cyber, economic etc) to civilians.

Militancy may very well include an armed or violent struggle so long is it does not target civilians. There are also rebels/insurgents who are militants pursuing sovereignty or a related cause in a battle against the government.
Name o e civilian that U know that these militants have killed.

By the OP definition, Niger delta militants cannot be regarded as true militants as they use force to destroy their own fatherland through blowing of pipelines. Most of them are not concern about the plight of their people but their own pockets. This explains the reason for the emergency of sudden millionaires among them without a tangible means of income. They are not patriotic even to their people and native lands as they practice their own form of militancy with bunkering, kidnapping and stealing.
From you own definition Niger Delta Avengers do not fall under any of the above groups, ' they use force to destroy their fatherland', That makes them BASTARDS

Just notice anytime there is mass murder the media is waiting to hear if the perpetrator is a Muslim, if he is then it is a terrorist act if not then he is either a militant or lunatic
PREACH!!! This is the simple truth people are shy to speak up. In our world today, you are either a terrorist or not depending on your religion and not the crime.

A christian like myself could kill 50 people using a gun and he'd be given some fancy name. But when a muslim kills 5 using a gun, he's a terrorist!

A group made up of Non-Arabs or Non Muslim involved in violence activities are called MILITANTS
or REBELS or VIOLENT GROUP

i meant to imply that rebels/insurgents could either be seen as militants or as a separate class of activist depending on their goals.

there is nothing inherently wrong in insurgency or rebellion. It all depends on the cause, methodology and legitimacy in terms of popular support.

Silly OP,

Nelson Mandela was on the US top ten list of international terrorists for many years, even while as President of South Africa. His only crime is that he asked that both blacks and white people of South Africa should be treated equally.

According to law, If you destroy government properties you are a criminal and should be arrested.

Both militants and terrorists destroy people and property so they are criminals.

The reason is very simple. Muslims who commit violent actions, always dedicate them to Allah or one fuccked up terror group. Eg, Orlando shooter, Mateen. You are not a terrorist because you are a muslim and commit a crime. It is your ideology that determines if you are a terrorist. Your reasons. Not the actions.
