Writer Nnedi Okorafor Upset After Nigerians Made Rude Comments About Her Hair

Nnedi Okorafor, a Nigerian-American writer of fantasy, science fiction, and speculative fiction, three days ago showed off her very long dreadlocks which reach her knee on her Facebook page.

Unfortunately, she got upset when reactions poured in and she realized the negative ones were from her fellow Nigerians. Someone even asked her if they were her source of power. Continues below.

I will advice that sometimes we scroll pass some thread if we have nothing positive to say or contribute rather than castigating someone about their personal life style, to say the truth it makes us Nigerians look/sound uncivilized.

Nigerian women want her to get a weave, so she will have no edges just like them.

It is so funny how we make judgement about other based on their appearance. The most funny and ironic thing in Nigeria is that since the creation of Nigeria I am yet to find any of our politicians (who have stolen and ruined more lives than all thieves combined) that looks "irresponsible".

When will we learn to appreciate the gift nature has given us rather we are embracing what the western media and commerce said beauty is.
