We still have treated hybrid sucker in abundance for delivery to your destination

It wise to test that farm soil before purchase. Do not buy a non-tested farm land as the after effect is at the long run during harvest when there will be no remedy

Do a comprehensive soil test with us

Your fruit looking distressed and fruit looking small
Don't panick or worry. If you have observed all the ABP, then your suckers are looking distressed as a result of the lack of rain. As soon as the rain start falling on the suckers, the distress looking sucker will look green and healthy again and the fruits will start producing in numbers as well as grow big

But if you did not observe all ABP in the last season, then your plantation need urgent attention as your suckers are malnourished and need to be exermined by kenfarm expert team

Kenfarm on a visit to a 50acres palm tree plantation under our management. We did our routine head count to ascertain motality. Hence we have to do gapping up to cover up for the mortality.

It is base on this that kenfarm decided to purchase palm nut, nurse them in our nursery from February to June when we would be using them to gap up.

Entrust your farm in our care and we help you build that plantation of your dream
Cheers!!

How is the rain in your farm area??
Re: Treated Giant Hybrids Elephants Plantain Suckers Here For Sale Rapid Fruit by Ken4agent(m): 6:32pm On Mar 06, 2020
Note the observation below from kenfarm......info useful to farmers clearing their farmland at the moment!!

In some cases, farmers will usually like to Rake the farm to remove all dead weed cum burnt sticks but we usually advise that the dead weeds and the burnt sticks should be left on the farm land to decay. The more they decay, the more microbial activities increase which inderectly increase the organic matter concentration on the soil. When the soil organic matter increase, reuptake of nutrient increase and Evapotranspiration reduce leading to increase in moisture content of the soil.

Hence, do not clean up the farm land completely with Rake. Inorganic manure enrich the soil over a long period of time.

Also, if you intend to cultivate that farmland in May/June, now is the appropriate time to apply not just any poultry manure but a cure poultry manure. Don't just start packing that poultry popoo because you are ask to pack it for free. You may be introducing Nematode or other harmful micro organism into your farm soil which will cost you 1000s of naira to control.

Patronise treated poultry manure that is cure......broadcast on that farmland and allow the rain to soak it into the soil after which you plough the farm soil or till the farm soil before planting proper.

Note that when you have invested energy ( in terms of time and cash) in preparing the soil, if you go ahead a patronise non-viable seed seller because it cheap, you have yourself to blame during harvest.

Consult kenfarm for your viable hybrid sucker, Cassava stem and palm nursery and be sure you have a viable seed planted.

I always tell people not to mind how much you invest in getting a viable seed. Infarct such cost should be categorized as fixed cost.....this is because once you cultivate that seed, it becomes your farm trade mark for years......eg sucker and tree crops seed.......so if it will cost you to travel 1000km to get a good viable seed, pls go ahead as you will soon realise all cash you spend on securing the viable seed.....

The benefit of organic manure is numerous. Do you know that inorganic manure degrade your farm soil over time?

But organic manure like poultry waste can revive a degraded soil. Apply poultry manure on that farm soil just after clearing. But the Qty to apply is dependent on the outcome of your soil analysis.

Today's field work:

Application of poultry manure on a client farm today.
The soil analysis indicated that we apply 500g to every stand. The fertility test result also warated the method we adopted in applying the poultry manure. Consult us for details

However, if the rain has started in yur area, now is the time to apply yur manure. Manure is best applied when the soil is moist. After application of manure, if we do not have rainfall for 2-3 days it is imperative you wet the soil to ensure the manure start decaying and getting ready for uptake.

The Qty of manure to apply and the method you adopt depends on the fertility test result and type of crop you cultivated.

Note that in as much as pig manure has been found to contain more nutrient, it can predispose your crop to fungi carrying vectors. Even treatment of the pig manure before application is not a guarantee.

Years back, I was invited to a plantation infested with Nematode to control the Nematode. We picked sample from soil and sucker to the lab and discover that the disease was introduced after application of pig poopoo. Contact for details ..

Safe yur plantation and apply only cured poultry manure. Prevention is pretty cheap but salvaging can cost a fortune

Cheers!!

Re: Treated Giant Hybrids Elephants Plantain Suckers Here For Sale Rapid Fruit by Ken4agent(m): 10:24am On Apr 06, 2020
Why is it taken my plantation 13months to fruit instead of 9months?

The rate at which your sucker produce fruit depends on the following factors:

1. Whether or not you control weed when the suckers was tender

2. Whether or not you did soil test of the soil to know the level of Macro and Micro nutrient available in the soil to know the Qty of NPK fertilizer to apply and method of application

3. How moist or how well drained is your soil

4. Whether or not you planted your sucker at dry season and fail to wet regularly

5. Whether or not you planted a hybrid so like that of kenfarm

6. If there was poor rain fall just after planting

These and many more factors determines if your plantain will fruit in 9months and if the fruit will be big enough.

The time to cultivate that idle farm land is now......start up with the clearing of land, doing a soil test and followed by burning the bush then allow rainfall to sink the potash into the soil.....

After wards apply a cured manure

Client Q:

During the dry season, fire cut up with my plantain plantation. What is the the effect on my harvest this season

Kenfarm Response:

The first thing we want to know is the degree of burn? Did it affect both the offspring and the parents?.....or did it affect only the leaf?

The degree of burn determines the degree of damage. Hybrid seed are not generally resilient to environmental hazard....we need to know that fact because they are genetically engineered to produce quality fruit under a short period of time.
Unlike the local seed/sucker which are resilient but produce really poor fruit in a long harvest period of time.

So if we understand all these, wm sure preventing environmental hazard from our plantation is still the cheapest and most effective.....how? ...check our blog

But however, if fire affected only the leaf, then no need to worry. As soon as the rain wet the plantation, new leaf will emerge for adequate photosynthesis

If the fire affected only the parent suckers and not the offspring, then expect a poor yield as the exposure to fire would have cause the sucker to lose lot of internal water which aid transpiration, exchange of gas and nutrient. So when these are affected Of cause the physical effect is the poor fruit
. But hey, the good news here is that the fire would have left some potash in the soil, increase mineralization and improve PH of the soil. All these factors will help the offspring suckers coming around the parent sucker to speed up in growth. In which case your next harvest will be splendid

But if the fire was a deliberate act buy our enemies, such fire will often render your plantation to a distress state so that if care is not taking your plantation sustainability will be compromised to the extent you may have to replant your suckers.

Conclusively, I use to tell my client that in AgricBiz, preventing negative environmental factors is cheaper than ameliorating it.

So preventing negative environmental factor includes a few act like:

1. Cultivating a viable seed ( like ours) regardless of how much you are spending to secure the seed/sucker since your seed always become your farm trade mark

2. Consulting expert on ways to prevent negative environmental factors like disease

3. Consulting experts hands (like kenfarm) for your soil fertility testing
And lots more

Do you know our soil fertility test result can reveal if that farm land you intend to cultivate has gone into desertification? Are you aware that a land that is decertified is only useful for building House and not for Agric purpose.

That is y kenfarm advocate soil testing before cultivation
We also advice potential farmers to engage the services of expert. It saves you lot of time and resources wastage.

How is the rainfall in your area

May7, kenfarm inspect one of the palm tree plantation under her watch

In the dry season, it was accidentally taken over by fire. The good news today is that all the matured palm tree have come alive again just after few rainfall.
But the coming alive was due to the organic manure I apply during last season rainfall. The rain fall that came after the fire made the organic manure release nutrient for the palm and also increase organic matter of the soil.

Also, some area of the farm that I marked for poor growth had dramatically improved due to the NPK 20:15:15 I applied and subsequently added organic manure after 4months. The effect of all these treatment of last season is seen on the healthy looking PalmTree this season.

Lesson : Do not give up on that farmland. If your crop showing sign of nutrient deficiency, consult experts to review your farm and postulate best ways to ameliorate your farm soil. Do not depend on the advice those local farmer around your farm area will give.

Farming have gone past conventional farming. The ecosystem is complicated now. Human activities have negative effect on our crop and so we need to holistically consider all the factors predisposing our crops to Denver before we jump into a solution

We planted Tenera, the 7bunches on one of the palm just fruiting is a confirmation that it is Tenera we are trading. If your palm fruit is not coming out with multiple bunches, then query the source.

For quality oil, we would be appling NPKMag fertilizer....the method and Qty is determined by our soil fertility test result

My little advice though

We like to keep our esteem client up to speed

The report and pics below is to let our esteem follower understand the relevance and importance of all the information we post here.

Kenfarm was invited to salvage a farm which apear to have poor growth. The farm is 11months old now and still yet to flower talk less of fruiting.

Reasons:
1. We did a soil test on the farm before the suckers were planted, the soil test indicated that the macro nutrient was very low. Our soil test report recommendations instruct that fertilizer be added in this oder

First round of application: apply NPK 15:15:15 ( gram withheld here) 4 weeks after planting

Second round of application: apply potash of Ureat (gram with held here) or another round of NPK 15:15:15 8weeks after first application

Third round of application: apply poultry manure (gram to apply with held here)

The specific Qty of all the fertilizer to apply, method of application and time line was specified in the soil test report but farm owner didn't see need to adhere to the report

The instruction was made clear in a document and sent to farm owner but the instruction was not taken and the effect is the very poor growth rate seen in the pics below

2. The suckers were always left to compete with weed.

3. Prolonged dry season of last season also contributed to the poor growth seen this season

Kenfarm Submission:
1. When you do a soil test of your farm, do not just have a look at the document and trash it. Take not of the Qty of fertilizer the report specify you should apply. If this Qty is applied following the method advise to take, then you can say you have brought the macro nutrient to expected critical level.

When you have apply the required Qty of fertilizer, you then observe your crop appearance. They show any sign of lack of nutrient then consult us. We do another soil test but this time we test for macro nutrient and CEC value. The CEC value will reveal whether or not the nutrient you have added is available for the up take by plant. Remember, it one thing for the nutrient to be available and it another thing of it to be release and made available for crop up take.

We have seen client who do soil test and still go ahead to do a blanket application of fertilizer. Consult enlightened professional and ensure your farm manager is enlightened. It your investment, protect it

2. Do not leave the weed to compete with your crop for the nutrient you added. Subdue weed with herbicide and man your farm with worker(s) to control weed.

3. The prolonged dry season should have been taken care of by creating an alternative water supply to the suckers. When water supply stops it compromise transpiration. When transpiration is compromised the leaf become yellowish. When the leaf is yellowish, it reduces rate of photosynthesis. When the rate of photosynthesis reduce the food pathway is obstructed and the result is poor growth

Unfortunately the rain stopped in November and rain did not come down up until April. Meaning the sucker was not getting water for 4months. That crazy !!

Our proscribe solution: we advice client to clear the weed. Add plenty of poultry manure ( Qty indicated) and ensure alternative source of water is made available for the coming dry season

So do the needful by attaching all decision you take to the soil test report. If you do not do a soil test then you will be gambling ....I don't think you want to gamble with your cash

Cheers

Are you aware that the topography of your farm soil determines the mothed of planting, spacing and depth of the planting holes.

If your farm is a slope, then i will advise you plant against gravity so that when you make heap around the base of the sucker stand, run-off will reduce. A good spacing will do lot of help and ensuring the recommended planting depth is followed. All these have a way of reducing run-off which lead to washing nutrient from the top of the slop to the bottom.

Reason crop at the bottom usually will have steady growth while that at the top show a distressed looking growth

Consult with us and we give you detail info for free if you have purchase our viable hybrid suckers.
