Some prominent elders and traditional rulers in Bayelsa State have alleged that some of the aides of President Muhammadu Buhari are frustrating the Federal Government’s proposed dialogue with the Niger Delta Avengers.

Though the elders and the monarchs commended President Buhari’s decision to lead the proposed dialogue, they expressed concern over the alleged show of deceit, insincerity and discordant tunes among the presidential aides from the region.

They claimed the development had created a huge doubt between the militant youths and the Federal Government.
The position of the concerned elders and monarchs, under the aegis of Bayelsa Elders for Progress, Peace and Good Governance, led by their Coordinator, Chief Ayibatonye Goodnews, and ‎the Secretary, Chief Lucky Ebifaghe, is contained in an open letter to the President.

They declared that the recent activities of key aides from the region such as the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, and the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh (retd.), were allegedly frustrating the peace efforts of the Federal Government.

They insisted that Buhari should investigate the genuiness of purported meetings held between Boroh and Kachikwu.

They wondered, “How can they claim to have met stakeholders and the militant attacks continue? They met some fake militants and stakeholders and wasted scarce resources of the Federal Government on jamboree.”

“The Amnesty boss, who claimed to have relocated to the creeks of the region was only sighted in a certain community holding clandestine meetings without solution to the continued bombing of the oil and gas facilities.

“Buhari should investigate the money expended on the jamboree without result. We insist that the Presidential Amnesty Office should be probed following the alleged meeting with fake Avengers.”

They contended that the lack of knowledge of the key issues of the region and wrong signals sent to the militants ‎in the creeks were frustrating the needed peace process.

They alleged that many of the purported stakeholders had made money from the self-created jamboree in the region, insisting that the genuine Niger Delta stakeholders should be consulted for sustainable peace in the region.

So these elders also support the agitation of these useless touts for personal benefit. No wonder why there are many miscreants in niger delta. When other youths are in school fighting to make life, these are clamoring for non existence benefit for themselves. These elders are not meant to be among sane people.

There is nothing like fake avengers. Kachuku knows them, met them, and a cease fire was agreed with kachuku with the militants for one month but the federal government in bad fate used the opportunity of the cease fire to begin to arrest those they think are the avengers.
In anger, they avengers blew five pipelines simultaneously which is the highest they have done since the bombing campaigns.
The avengers have said it, they are a group of highly educated, we'll trained in the act of commando and guerrilla warfare. And they have proven their points.
Bubu and Co have proven to lack knowledge talk less of solutions to the problem.
Bubu again and again has shown insincerity and bad fate with this guys... He thinks bullets would give him victory in the creeks... He needs to reboot his brain.
True federalism and political inclusion is the solution.

what I need to know is that how come these people did not take advantage of when their son was in power to fix the so-called fundamental problems in the region? Why now?

I still want all this elders to keep quiet and let militant continue to destroy their state. what I knew is that all prominent people in the state kept their families in abroad. ask Jonathan, Dickson, even late criminal governor. what is happening bin borno state now when all the people in the state harbour book haram as if they are fighting for them, now the state will never recover from the paint in a hurry. so let elder kept quiet and allow militant to to destroy the state. time will come when their children in the state will go and start house girl in other state when there no where to stay again. they tot buhari will not rest.. the good news is that he always sleep like a baby every day. as my formal President wife always saying... Jonathan of Bayelsa did not negotiate wit Book Haram rather he converted the money meant for Arms to ATM to serve his cronies. Bulgari should allow the Niger deltas to uproot and devastate here lands for at least the same five years Jonathan of Bayelsa lasted in same seat before any negotiations. It does not matter how long the destruction last, Nigeria will survive without oil

Charity begins at home. let us discipline ourselves first from councilors, LGA chairmen, Governors, Mngts of NNDC, Ministry of ND, Amnesty Programm, DESOPADEC, OMPADEC etc. Am sure life will be lot better for the average Niger Deltan if all the aforementioned show just little discipline rather than enriching only those that carry guns and dynamites. my opinion tho.
