Total money= Expenditure + Amount remaining. In the same way, assume I also have N50 and I spend N1. Balance N49. Then spend another N1. Balance N48. If I continue spending N1, at the end everything will sum up to N1225. We're counting the remains so in the process counting the same money several times. I hope I answered you! 3 Likes |

Simple as ABC, let's crack it. The illusion of the problem is at 15 + 15 which is no brainer because, the currency ought to be in base 10 to give you 30 but instead, the simple 1 naira division gave a perfect split of 30 into 15naira each. How? if it was in 10 naira note we would have 30 from both 15naira but one of that 10 naira note was given in 5 naira notes. 10+10+5+5=30 So that single 1 naira during the split made a difference during the op's calculation. |

Can't see no extra N1. Seem OP added the remainder which is wrong. you can only add up what was deducted to get the total amount. 1 Like |

this is not the world's toughest riddle....its just illogical. Addition of Spent and Balance will never be equal. 1 Like |

WORKING Open Balance N500 Spent (N) Balance (N) 250 250 200 50 50 0 --------- -------- 500. 300 --------- -------- WORKING Open Balance N90 Spent (N) Balance (N) 20 70 50. 20 10 10 10 0 --------- -------- 90. 100 --------- -------- 1 did not come from anywhere. We can't just have balances equal to expenditure. It is like saying addition of all surpluses is equal to all expenditure, it does not work that way. 1 Like |
