Members of the House of Representatives are divided over a bill seeking to alter Section 308 of the 1999 Constitution.

This has caused a rowdy session at the first plenary after resumption from the Eid-el-Fitr holidays.

The motion was sponsored by the Minority Leader, Rep. Leo Ogor but was vehemently opposed by the Majority Leader, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, who said that the timing of the bill is wrong, insisting that Nigerians will not support it.

He also noted that no legislation in the world provides immunity for its presiding officers.

In his verdict, the Speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara explained that any bill(s) that seeks to amend the constitution are normally allowed to pass through the 2nd Reading, before being sent to the adhoc committee on the review of constitution.

This decision, however, attracted more rowdiness on the floor of the House.

Proposed by minority leader Leo Ogor of the pdp, that says it all. This kite was set in the sky by one Egi-ewedu an accidental deputy senate president.

Why Proposed immunity for legislooters? What are they afraid of? Instead of removing immunity for all, the executive inclusive.

PDP never dissappointing in sponsoring and promoting lawlessness.

shameless dishonorable members trying to extend the immunity to cover the forging duo of Saraki and Ekweremadu. Just like the failed attempt to amend the CCT and CCB act, this attempt to amend the constitution to shield Saraki and Ekweremadu from prosecution will also fail.

Sentiments are not applied in Law making. Objective and mission should becloud any sense of populistic opinion. Most times multitudes are not always right. The leadership of the three organs of government should be granted immunity or none should.

While Executive enjoys absolute immunity unless impeached, so will is any NASS Leader lose his immunity if impeached while the National Judicial Council handles that of Chief Judge of the Federation.

Immunity of any NASS Leader can even expire in a day or a week time.

Leaders are born hence the exclusive intelligence residing in them to take decision on contentious issues..

Immunity for all, the state speaker must also have theirs too.

Not only that, the Chief Justices, Ambassadors and Permanent Secretaries (State and Federal) must also have theirs too.

Shallow minded legislatures, just because one person is facing trial within a regime that last only for 4years, they want to put the future of the entire nation into brink.

F.Govt should also come out straight, allowing speculation or body language will always bring artificial reactions. If you wan remove Saraki remove am make we have peace; if your power no reach, leave the man make hin enjoy his tenor.
