The fundamental way in which governments see how a nation should develop is wrong in Nigeria. Now they sign big contracts with foreign firms to bring so-called experts here to collect big pay, and then they control who they get on the employment train here on the project, in a country where entrepreneurs abound and are looking for government patronage, especially in this very low-tech business. In the countries where they even have their own solar industry the government still encourages private individuals to patronise small businesses in this field and hence employment is created without the man-know-man addiction of Nigeria. Nigeria is nowhere because all our leaders are only experts in human manipulation and not about technology or a good idea how their nation should grow

This is happening when other Governors were busy buying fish & kanda in the market eating Fufu & Amala in local restaurants . O my God,give us good leaders in our land. Apart from El-Rufai's religious sentiment he has his intelligence & visionary focus going for him. That state can't remain the same after his first term in office .

I guess you are being sarcastic because if you had read the piece you would discover that the power plant will use solar energy and not crude oil (?) or gas. Northerners are not as dumb as you think. They are diversifying their power source away from gas.

Even tho his message is a hate inspired one there is sense in it. Same people who opposed the southern states when they attempted same type of project that will meet their local needs now want to do their own off-grid power project. Rivers, Lagos and Delta all stop their own because they can't have the power generated to themselves alone under the law.

Has the sector being restructured? Kaduna's 100mw if realized would still be hooked on to the national grid right?

I don't think so. The cost is so heavy for one state to shoulder alone.

I don't even get it, why can't all other states put up their own renewable power plants?

renewable solar energy is more favourable to the northern states cos they have better sunshine than their southern counterpart. The southern states like Lagos n Rivers tried gas-fired plants but they must pump the power generated into the national grid. This is so cos they can't afford a whole new transmission or distribution system that will run side-by-side with the nation's own distribution system. The north on the other hand have the option of building smaller units of transmission system that will serve remote settlements.

There's no such thing as better sunshine, those panels are photovoltaic, they just require daylight not even sunshine to function. That being said, u implied that there's a regulation that forbids states from generating power locally, without injecting into the national grid, are you saying it's just a lack of distribution infrastructure thing?

this is one of the reasons why most parasites in govt are against restructuring. If I tell you the intricacies of agric sector alone you will weep for this country. We are strategically set up not to progress as a nation but even people in govt don't know
pls can you summarise the agric intricacies for me

I get the surface picture of the agric sector. China consumes yams but Nigeria who has excess randomly can hardly export to them because of procedural bottlenecks
what procedural bottleneck

Let's assume you are right, you can very well go ahead and state your point without being disrespectful.

Secondly, you are wrong, there is a cap to what any other entity asides the FG can generate and transmit . . . and to make it worse, the national grid ATM can barely transmit more than 7,000MW or thereabout.

Thirdly, 'decentralizing power' and 'diversifying power sources' are 2 entirely different things especially in this context, you seem to imply both mean the same thing . . . that's funny though . . .
cheesy

where the disrespect
Just pointed out mass ignorance
Unless you live outside Nigeria during obj time and maybe you were not interested in politics then
Otherwise someone who claims to be worried about a problem would be well informed about it

not if you're off grid to both points

nope
