Anything herbal in this country scares me based on my experience with herbal toothpaste, I can't remember the name but I hardly see it in the market.

I started out using this herbal toothpaste and suddenly started seeing huge black spot around my mouth region, started as pink, then turn black. I didn't know what I was reacting to. I thought it was the cream I was using. I stopped the cream, but the black spot was increasing and very observable. People started asking me what is wrong with my face. I rushed to see a dermatologist consultant at Unilag teaching hospital.

On sighting me, the doctor asked me what toothpaste was I using and I told him. She got interested. Happened that I was not the only person reacting to the toothpaste and she has been gathering evidence to report the manufacturers. She took pictures of me, explaining my situation to the students understudying her, which was very embarrassing. She advised me to discard the toothpaste and gave me drugs and I am grateful.

Another thing to note is that, we have a terrible quality control system in this country. SON is a terrible organization not doing its job. My best advise is people should see a specialist for Heath issues and stop testing out drugs especially herbal drugs.
