Executive governor of Anambra State, Dr. Willie Obiano is said to be promoting a new law in Anambra that punishes couple who fails to screen for sickle cell syndrome before formalising their marriages.

The governor, who spoke through his Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike, at a ceremony to mark this year’s Sickle Cell Day in Awka, said it was part of the state government’s determination to eradicate sickle cell disease.

Public affair analyst, political commentators as well as the inhabitants of the state at large have given their opinion on the 'controversial law' some arguing in support while others sees the law as repugnant to nature justice, equity and good conscience as it infringes on human choices and freedom.

Whats your view on the 'Compulsory Genotype Law' in Anambra state, are you in support or against?
