Aftermath of Shanghai Shenhua's striker, Demba Ba's potentially career-threatening injury over the weekend in a Chinese Super League derby game, between his side and Shanghai SPG, where he had an horrific leg break after a seemingly harmless challenge from Opposition defender, Sun Xiang, we look at five of the most gruesome leg breaks in soccer over the years.

1. Djibril Cisse (Liverpool, 2004): Cisse suffered a horrific injury from a confrontation by Blackburn defender, Jay McEveley in a tense game at Elwood Park on 31st of October, 2004 resulting in him breaking his Tibia and Fibula. He was expected to be at least nine months out, but made a miraculous comeback in a champion’s league clash between Liverpool and Juventus on 13 April 2005.

2. Eduardo Da Silva (Arsenal, 2008): The former Arsenal Striker, had his Fibula snapped and his left ankle dislocated, aftermath of a tackle from Croatian International, Martin Taylor, in an EPL encounter between Arsenal and Birmingham on the 25th of February, 2008. He was ruled out for 12 months and was eventually sold to Shaktar Donetsk in July 2010.

3. Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal, 2010): The Wales International, suffered fractures to his Tibia and Fibula of his right leg in an EPL match against Stoke City on the 27th of February, 2010, after a silly tackle from stoke city's Ryan Showcross. He was out for exactly a year and a week as a result of the incidence.

4. Hartem Ben Arfa (Newcastle, 2010): From a heavy tackle by former Manchester City's Midfielder, Nigel De Jong, Ben Arfa had his leg broken in two places on October 3, 2010 in an encounter between Newcastle and Manchester City. He was out for nine months.

5. Luke Shaw (Man UT, 2015): The Man Utd.’s defender, suffered a double-leg injury after a shocking tackle from Hector Moreno of PSV in United's Champions’ League group stage clash with PSV last season. He was out for the remainder of last season.
