Kobojunkie, thank God u feel me. Provide the basics which in turn encourage investors. Also, competition amongst investors, which will provide jobs and reduce the cost of living.  Investors  in tourism, education, entertainment, manufacturing etc.

It is actually a beautiful place, all that is needed is just cosmetics really. Just a bit of this and that, a fancy website, photoshopped but still a bit realistic pictures.
The picture posted is not good for business, seems like they used an everyday camera.
The no 16 pic will make a very good advertisement image.

Actually just going through their website, it has a bit of everything for everyone. I doubt people will travel from all part of the world just to visit the place however if you happen to be in Nigeria, it ain't half bad to visit.

This one is for those Cross River state sceptic about their potential in tourism.

Senate partners UN to boost tourism

Prepares bill to ban killing of wild animals

From Azimazi Momoh Jimoh, Abuja
THE drive towards boosting the country's tourism potentials within the international community received a boost yesterday as the United Nations (UN) promised to assist the nation in achieving the vision.

At a meeting with the Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology in the National Assembly, the UN Ambassador for Year of the Gorilla, Mr. Jan Redman, said that the international organisation had observed Nigeria's tourists potentials and was ready to assist in developing it.

He noted that the varieties of wild animals in the country, especially gorilla, were sufficient to earn huge foreign exchange for the country.

According to him, many African countries like Uganda survived on tourism earnings which was made possible through the preservation of gorillas in that country.

Redman declared that the number of gorillas found in Nigeria, especially in Cross River State, was enough to enhance Nigeria's tourist attractions if preserved
He noted, however, that the culture of killing the animal for food and other purposes was threatening its survival in the country
.

"It is important that measures are taken to prevent gorilla from going into extinction in Nigeria," he stated.

Earlier, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, Grace Bent, declared that in a bid to preserve wild animals in the country, the Senate was preparing a bill to protect and ban the killing of such animals in order to boost the country's tourism potentials.

"The increased rate of industrialisation, urban development, human population growth, overgrazing, deforestation, oil and gas exploration in Nigeria is producing serious impact on our biodiversity. By this, I mean the variability among living organisms from all sources including terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems. The reason for this meeting with the UN Ambassador is to raise awareness on the preservation of our biodiversity," she said.

Bent continued: "The committee has taken giant strides in terms of proffering solutions to the problems through evolving various bills including the Climate Change Bill for an Act to provide for the management and conservation of Nigerian biodiversity; the protection of species and ecosystems that warrant national protection; the sustainable use of indigenous biological resources; the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from bio-prospecting involving indigenous biological resources; as well as the establishment of the National Biodiversity Institute and for matters connected therewith."

No. Nigerian tourism is about how many replicas of western constructions we can build in our own backyard. From coloseum to water parks, that seems to be the general idea of what tourism is.  grin

What else can I say. The government will continue to take advantage of our ignorance. In reality, about $340 million was spent since 2005 to dec 2009. I don’t know the current figure. Is this money well spent,? Only time will tell knowing Nigeria has a horrible maintenance culture. A good example is the Ajaokuta Steel Company that has never produced a tonne of steel in the 25 years.

I really hope this tourism project works out without first addressing the basic problems of Nigeria.

Its only now I am very sure that some people needs be sent to the psychiatrist to have a medical check up- a burger costing 500Naira is too much for the common man? What do you take people in Nigeria for? Poor and sickly and unable to eat? what is 500naira in Nigeria? It seems to me that some people need be tutored on what is realy happening in Nigeria so that they can shut up and let people that know what goes on in Nigeria realy talk - what the fu ck is in MacDonalds that some says Nigerians will not be able to afford the same quality that is in Europe or america- what the fu ck? Now you guys make me laugh and make me angry at the same time - just shut up you'all, you have no idea about what you are talking about, you are making fools of yourselves and exposing your dirty, smelly butt holes- come back to Nigeria- see joints everywhere, find out how much things cost, find out what rate people buy and shut the hell up ----

You must be stupid. The truth is that even the riches man in Nigeria cannot go MacDonalds everyday to eat and as a common high school students in US do. A big restaurant like MacDonalds will never go to Nigeria because the first thing they will do is calculation. In US MacDonalds cost $5, 6,7 and up. Exchange $5 to Naira it will give you 769 Naira. Who in Nigeria will buy the MacDonalds. MacDonalds CEO knows that Nigerians are suffering. What kind of a man will take a big franchise business to Nigeria. Is it food the 10% who loot the Treasury or the common man who cannot send his child to school. If MacDonalds come to Nigeria, one burger a lone will cost 2000 Nara to talk of freshfries, something to watch it and other things like ice cream etc. Buy the time the food is ship from US to Nigeria, transporting it from one location to other places in Nigeria, diesel in generator and paying your workers, forget. Such a big business like MacDonalds will never survive in Nigeria because even the riches person Nigeria is not ready for thing like MacDonalds. In every business, we look for profit not lose. MacDonalds food stuffs cannot be process in Nigeria so it has to be make in US and ship. Nigeria infrastruction is hell to compete with. So forget about MacDonalds in Nigeria for year to come. The rich is not even ready for such a thing. MacDonalds in will cost more than 4000 Naira by the time you calculation everything form A to Z.
Re: Lovely Pictures Of Tinapa Water Park. by Kobojunkie: 7:31pm On Sep 18, 2009
How dare you ask them to think about it? @Ovie. As long as they can afford Naira 2000 burger, why should they care how many others can? roflmao!!! grin grin cheesy grin

I have to admit, I am cheap. The thought of spending 1000 Naira on even cooking stew ,probably will not last through a week, in Nigeria makes my skin crawl. Talkless of buying a burger, just the burger for Naira 500 or more. roflmao!!

Mcdonalds is a FRANCHISE. What this means in a simple language is that they care A LOT about their BRAND. What this also means is that they would not compromise on the quality of that brand. You can give them $100 million for the same franchise that cost $1 million; if you do not demonstrate how you provide ELECTRICITY 24/7 without running prohibitive costs or compromised brand, they would not come, PERIOD! It is that simple. I believe Nigerians can afford it (it doesn't have to be sited everywhere, just the rich locations), but what about standards, especially when foods needs to be REFRIGERATED 24/7 Those foods are pre-made and shipped in refrigerated ships and trucks to locations all over the world.
WE DON"T HAVE ELECTRICITY. Mcdonalds would never go to Nigeria until that happens. Just watch, they would soon go to Ghana.

Please do no mind them. They need to face the fact when someone tell. 99% of Nairaland base in abroad yet they are like they are in Nigeria. The common factor Nigeria face in Nigeria they are not facing were they base yet they try to compare their life with people that suffer day in and day out in nigeria. I am a Nigerian born base in NYC and I will always tell the truth. I know that is what he and her ugly mom do in bed. He replace is father. What a loser.

U need not blame many of this so called International Slaves.  They keep saying negative things about Nigeria forgetting that Europe or America was not built in a day.  Anyway ask them what they are doing abroad if not washing plates and cleaning shoes is not their job. At times, i wonder why people want to die abroad when they can not even afford themselves of daily basic needs.  May be if you have not travelled wale, but one day when you get to the so called nonsense called europe, you will pity most of this nigerians that I called international slaves

Here we go again. Doing well in Nigeria sometimes means, you are either a thief, a politician or a relative of both. Those international slaves to you managed to sent home more than 12 Billions dollars last year alone from their sweat of washing plate as you call it to keep your macro economy on a better footing, while your only source of money oil is being sold and bank the proceed abroad. The mentality of those at home and abroad are different sometimes, in that, those abroad having been exposed to better way of doing things and good governance of their host nations, can no longer be fooled with constant and meaningless elephant projects undertake by Nigerian rogue rulers.

Amusement park or Tinapa is not the job of an elected govt pure and simple. That is the job of the private sector investment. It govt job to provide incentives like electricty, reliable and available landline telephone syetem, Broadband internet, clean water, clean environment, good road, good sewage system, reliable and recognise postal system/post or zip code all for private entreprise to thrive. They always embark on projects like Tinapa because it's an easier way to steal public money through procurements and contracts. And some at home are quickly and easily impressed by this kind of white washed grave project, nice on the outside but rotten on the inside.

You are damn right. As some one who had run two Mcdonald franchises since 1995, one of their criteria is that you shoulld have a proper human waste disposal system for your customers, through a modern sewage system. In 2009, Nigeria still dispose raw sewage on the street, through their 17th centruy gutter systme that is never covered. No electricity, no running water.

What kind of patient silly boy. They have Beren promising you papa since he was born and still not improve. Years of promise since independent. Don't you know fool at 40 is a fool forever. Continue to wait that things will get better in that country. The way you born into poverty and decay of bad environment, you will still die living that. Do me a favor, continue to be patient; your papa don't patient enough since he born and now is your turn to be patient if anything good will come oneday.
