That's a new one. At 21 no menstruation? That's a strong one. Which means she doesn't ovulate as well, practically impossible for her to get pregnant.

I'm not a medical practitioner, but if my scanty knowledge of biology serves me right, I'd say she has serious hormonal deficiencies. Especially the main female hormone responsible for primary sexual characteristics in a female.

I advise you seek proper medical counsel from a medical specialist, most preferably an endocrinologist or a gynecologist. Problem is that Nigeria lacks medical professionals with sound knowledge of these things. If you have enough financial resources, I'd suggest you seek treatment in Britain or India. Those people are most capable of proffering a solution.

Act now while there's still time, except she doesn't mind being childless.
I totally disagree with. Pls we have so many trained and qualifiied gynaecologists who can handle dis case. Thank you.

I can assume that she has hormonal imbalance and need quick medical treatment cos her sexual hormones that stimulates the production of eggs is absolutely malfunctioning and that is what I call abnormality. Note. A girl who does not ovulation cannot menstrate, and as such cannot get pregnant.
So mydia I know u panic but not withstanding visit a specialist, go to general hospital. Seriously this is hormonal abnormalcy.
Re: AT 21, She Has Never Menstruated Before: She Needs Medical advice by Mogaz2016(m): 9:22am On Jul 28, 2016
sapiosexual1:

From the foregoing, it's likely she has a congenital anomaly of the uterus(hematocolpos comes to mind) which could be contributory to her problems.
However the major hormones responsible for ovulation and therfore menstruation are influenced by action of the ovaries. So it's also a possibility that she has some fertility hormone imbalance which should be obvious clinicaly by her not possessing the secondary sexual characteristics expected of a lady (or having it skewed).
I would still advice further medical evaluation, you could visit any of the teaching hospitals close to you for a specialist review. These cases are seen rarely, I have managed one myself, so don't listen to the psycophant who commented immediately aftr your post.

I knew there will be one who thinks the same way I do... Well the first speaker only rely on his obscure knowledge of biology to give wrong diagnosis and last doubt the competence of Nigerian Doctors

It is not normal for a girl at 21 not to have started menstruating (primary amenorrhoea). I assume from your post that she has this feminine look with well developed mammary glands, if my assumption is correct then she doesn't have any hormonal imbalance issues.

From the scan she has a small womb () and the doctor had to do surgery to enlarge the womb rather strange!!!! That person is probably not a doctor unless if you did not understand what he did or told you.

Small or absent womb could mean a developmental (anatomical) problem and there are associations to that.

If she experiences monthly (cyclical) waist pains and/or lower abdominal swelling then she is probably menstruating only that there is outflow tract obstruction (hidden menses a.k.a. cryptomenorrhoea).

@Yabaleftist, Nigeria has a lot of qualified Gynaecologists for your information.

@Op pls don't call or WhatsApp any number they are after your money.

My advice: You people should visit a nearby teaching hospital, be patient with the doctors and be ready to accept the verdict of their findings, above all, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!!!
Cheers!!!

What is absent menstruation?
1 Absent menstruation, also known as amenorrhea, is the absence of menstrual periods. There are two types of absent menstruation. The type depends on whether menstruation hasn’t occurred by a certain age, or whether menstruation has occurred and is then absent.
2 Absent menstruation may occur for a variety of reasons. The most common of these include natural causes, lifestyle factors, and hormonal imbalances.
3 It’s important to see a doctor about absent menstruation, as the underlying cause may require treatment. Absent menstruation often resolves once the cause is treated.

Absent menstruation, or amenorrhea, is the absence of menstrual bleeding. It happens when a girl hasn’t had her first menstrual period by age 16. It also occurs then a woman fails to menstruate for 3 to 6 months.

Amenorrhea can happen for many reasons. The most common cause is pregnancy. However, amenorrhea may also be caused by various lifestyle factors, including body weight and exercise levels. In some cases, hormonal imbalances or problems with the reproductive organs might be the cause.

Types of absent menstruation
Type 1

The two types of amenorrhea are referred to as primary and secondary.

Primary amenorrhea is when a teenage girl has reached or passed the age of 16 and still hasn’t had her first period. Most girls begin menstruating between ages 9 and 18, but 12 is the average age.

Secondary amenorrhea is when a woman has stopped menstruating for at least three months. This is the more common form of amenorrhea.

In most cases, both types can be treated effectively.

Causes of absent menstruation
Primary and secondary amenorrhea can occur for numerous reasons. Some causes are natural, while others are medical conditions that need to be treated.
•Natural causes most likely to cause amenorrhea include pregnancy, breast-feeding, and menopause.
•Lifestyle factors may include excessive exercise and stress. Also, having too little body fat or too much body fat may also delay or stop menstruation.
•Hormonal imbalances may cause amenorrhea. They are usually triggered by tumors on the pituitary gland or the thyroid gland. Low estrogen levels or high testosterone levels can also cause them.
•Medications can cause amenorrhea in some women. Antipsychotics and antidepressants are often involved. Chemotherapy drugs and medications that treat high blood pressure can cause problems with menstruation as well. Suddenly stopping birth control pills may also lead to several months of absent periods before the cycle returns to normal.
•Physical defects such as structural problems in the female reproductive organs might be responsible for absent or delayed menstruation. These issues can result from birth defects, tumors, or infections that occurred in the womb or shortly after birth. In rare cases, missed periods could be a symptom of Asherman’s syndrome. This occurs due to scarring in the uterus after surgery, which can prevent mestruation.
•Genetic disorders or chromosomal disorders, such as Turner syndrome and Sawyer syndrome, can sometimes cause late menstruation.

A teenage girl who hasn’t started her periods by at least age 16 should see a doctor. A trip to the doctor’s office is also necessary if she is age 14 or older and hasn’t experienced any signs of puberty yet. These changes would include the following in numbered order of appearance:
1.thelarche (breast bud development)
2.pubarche (pubic hair development)
3.menarche (onset of menstrual periods)

Menstruating women and teens should see their doctor if they have missed three or more periods in a row.
Diagnosis
When you see your doctor about amenorrhea, your doctor will perform a physical exam and ask you a series of questions. Be prepared to talk about your normal menstrual cycle, your lifestyle, and any other symptoms you’re experiencing. Your doctor will also order a pregnancy test if you haven’t had a period in three months. If that condition is ruled out, you may need more tests to determine the underlying cause of your missed periods. These diagnostic tests may include:
•Blood tests, which will allow your doctor to check hormone levels in your body. Prolactin, luteinizing hormone, and follicle stimulating hormone are all related to menstruation. Determining these levels can help your doctor determine or rule out the cause of your absent periods.
•Ultrasound is an imaging test that uses high frequency sound waves to create detailed pictures of the inside of your body. It enables your doctor to view various organs, such as the ovaries and uterus, and check for abnormal growths.
•CT scan is another type of imaging test that uses computers and rotating X-ray machines to create cross-sectional images of the body. These images allow your doctor to look for masses and tumors in your glands and organs.

Treatment
Treatment for amenorrhea varies depending on the underlying cause. Hormonal imbalances can be treated with supplemental or synthetic hormones, at times herbal therapy has been discovered to be very effective in treatment which can help normalize hormone levels.

Your doctor may also recommend making simple lifestyle changes if your weight or exercise routine is contributing to your condition. Ask your doctor to refer you to a nutritionist or dietician, if necessary. These specialists can teach you how to manage your weight and physical activity in a healthy way.

YOU CAN CONTACT THIS NUMBER 07036507238 /07082526553 FOR FURTHER INFO ON TREATMENT

Re: AT 21, She Has Never Menstruated Before: She Needs Medical advice by Honeydenz(f): 8:37pm On Mar 02, 2023
I just lost a Sister to this very health problem. She's 22 and hasn't menstruated since 2015. In her own case, it's secondary amenorrhea because she had some menstruation before during her early puberty. Then stopped, she's wasn't pregnant at least not at JSS2. Hmmm we thought the worst that could happen if it's not resolved was childlessness but she died in September last year. It's a serious health issue nobody should underate it, from no menstruation she started having herpotension (low blood pressure) which causes her to faint often (temporarily loss of consciousness). We spent money on treatment at IRRUA specialist teaching hospital Edo state, with several other referrals to UBTH, LASUTH lagos, ordinary lab test 20k, 25k will vanish at a sitting, no drugs yet o hmmm or was it churches, we visited different pastors, still no solution. Abegi...
Ah it was too painful, if you see this girl, such beauty all feminine characteristics are in place, light skin so pretty! She's Nigerian but looks like half cast. She died at 22. Too sad, she died very unhappy.
