What's your definition of domination? SA were just okay before the red card.. but after the red card it was a one way traffic. The Brazilian were unlucky not to win.. At one point of the match possession was 70 percent to the Brazilians.. Niger and rumour mongering sha
that match cost me a huge amount of money.

I concur with your post. Save for a few flashes of skill, Mikel was anonymous in the AMF role. He was a passenger for most of the game.

I believe a 4-2-3-1 formation would suit the team in subsequent games; Mikel would partner Azubuike in the defensive midfield area.

They played 4-2-3-1 with Mikel at the pivot.

what you suggested is good. let Mikel return back to his more familiar position.

Why on earth siasia did not come with balogun the defence is very bad you can't play Brazil with this kind of defence always wanting to get to semi finals then start giving excuses that the team really tried embarassed

its the left-back (if you watch the game closely),he adopted the left-wing-back-when the left-winger got tired, finding it hard to return on time and correctly a lot of times the Japs capitalized on that.

the Japs right winger moves in there (sometimes falsely) forcing the left-center-back to try cover that position and creating pockets repeatedly in the center back where they move in to create havoc.

Exactly. Let Etebor Take the Ten Role. Usman, Ezekiel and Sadiq Umar attack. I feel the team will be balanced this way and leak less goals.

penalty for nigeria..didnt worth it tho.

It was a compensation for the penalty that was generously giving to Japan in the first half. The referee try to balance the penalty to cover his error.

Nice following nairaland.just joined. My humble opinion about the Dream team.Siasia is a good coach but always depends on his boys. The team's defence has always been bad due to inexperience. Sincere,Amuzie ,Ndifreke, are academy stars and not mature enough for this level of competition. You wont wonder why they lost to the flying eagles twice, with other scandalous loses in Suwon. The benchman,Erimuya, though very good, but lacks experience. I know him in benin.A former youth star with BJ foundation. What happened to the likes of Ganiyu Ogungbe,Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, etc?. And NFF didnt play their cards well concerning the availability of Ndidi,Omeruo and musa Mohammed. These are guys with top class experience. If mikel can come, why not the above?.And by my humble opinion, that little man, saliu popoola,is better than mikel, just highly underrated by many teams because of his size.Very visionary and composed.I had fun watching him in the last 5 minutes of the game as the crowd cheered every touch of his

I think there are many more matches to play,Nigeria first problem is our size against the Japanese, the referee was busy going against all the physical contacts we had with Japan, the jetlag is another issue.I think the team can do better in subsequent matches n this tournament. The coach is good and the boys gave their all,i want to see the coming in of some other players. We can't show our best 11 yet for strategies to be mapped out against them, our other opponents must have concluded now that we have a porous defense not knowing that Akpeyiis better than Daniel Emmanuel from all ramification. There are other players on the bench that can help the team as well.Your observation is excellent but i think the nigeria team will get it tight at the rear if they wish.Mikel is the most fortunate footballer i have ever known,i think he is over rated.
