Amdavadis, Make A Fashionable Splash This Monsoon by greentrends: 6:37am On Jul 29, 2016
And finally as the skies have opened up and are treating Amdavadis with some much needed refreshing showers, it's time to bring out your fashionable best and lookmonsoon ready. However, for many of us what to wear to tackle the seasonal woes is a daunting task. From managing to walk through puddles of murky water, traffic woes, soggy clothes, looking effortlessly chic can be tough. We list trendy headturning tips that can be smoothly pulled off this season.

Monsoon must haves: During monsoon, opt for outfits which are easily manageable, opines Ahmedabad-based designer, Kalgi Shah. "Bermudas, off-shoulder dress, cold-shoulder tops, midi dress and skirts, culottes, shorts are fashion essentials. Opt for ankle length jumpsuits. Add a pop of colours to brighten a damp day. Along with hints of neon, bright pastels are ruling the colour charts. Neon trench coat rain coats can be worn."

"Invest in a nylon parka in military colours or some bright shades to take the look notches up. Adding some cool vibrant elements to neutral or solid shaded Parka too, looks cool. A sheer raincoat in bubble gum or citrus shades can be a mood enhancer. Quirky prints on umbrella or quirky shaped umbrellas are in vogue," adds designer Aniket Satam.

Flaunt some colours: Play up with some vibrant colours, which will be a perfect contrast to the grey skies. "Opt for bright tropical shades of purple, violet, red orange and magenta, to brighten up a dull day. Infuse military shades trend with some camouflage prints like that of khaki, bottle green, dusty green et al for travelling purposes," suggests Aniket.

Fabrics like silk, chiffon and cotton are ideal for this season as they dry instantly, suggests designer duo Sana and Sulakshana. One can also play with colour blocking and double the fun.

Budget Wonders: "Smart layering is the trick. Wear a plain cotton shift dress and team it with a colourful silk scarf. The scarf can come handy if you don't have an umbrella," says Sana and Sulakshana.

"One can play with vibrant colours and mix and match them with transparant or opaque prints/fabrics. Print on print clash can also be tried. Invest in a light overcoat or a nylon trench or a playful and decorative bomber to stay warm during rains. Blend designs and patterns with solid colours like navy blue, black or even beige are in vogue. Opt for light away from body silhouettes, so go for semi shift tunic, short kaftans, classic shift or sack dress," says Aniket.

"With off shoulders and cold shoulders seen on almost every celebrity, one can get experimental and budget friendly by giving one's old clothes new twist. Shorten your loose long linens into the length of culottes. You can also chop off the shoulders of your tee and turn into off-shoulder or cold shoulder look. Your jeans can be turned into a new pair of bermuda too, if you so want," shares Kalgi.

For Him:

Monsoon must haves: Adding some elements of quirk and colours will make you monsoon ready in a jiffy. Designer Rohit Kamra shares, "From trendy and quirky prints to shibori and batik prints on shirts can be clubbed with cool chinos or even with light denims. These options can work wonders for evenings. Colourful sneakers, trendy sporty wear and light tinted glasses are a rage this season."

"Pair your shirts with cool shorts or team your culottes with printed or plain shirts and adds to the fun quotient. One can also invest in a pair of funky gumboots. Waterproof backpacks in cool prints are a must have this season," asserts designer Kunal Anil Tanna.

Flaunt the right fabrics: "While light weightFabrics like cotton and linen are must have fabrics during monsoon, colours like rose quartz and serene blue are ideal. Along with whites, light pastel shades, shades of blue, green and aqua are soothing for this season. Tan and iced coffee shades can be lovely options to flaunt this season," asserts Rohit.

Budget Wonders: Kunal Anil Tanna, adds, "A two toned rain-cheater is a great investment, as it can be also be worn as an informal jacket."

"Mix and match ensembles speak volumes about your personality. Invest in a few classic pieces, such as jackets, shirts and pants which can

be teamed up with other outfits and worn on several occasions," says Rohit.
