@OP OKOLO is a name common to the Igalas or igala-igbo border areas. The Igbos bear Okoro while the Igalas bear Okolo, both names are the same but one was corrupted by the borrowee tribe. Originally an Igala name i think.

The Igbo bear both Okolo and Okoro depending on the dialect. I didn't even know the Igalas use it until now. But if there was a borrowing, the Igbos were definitely not the ones who did the borrowing.

Okolo/Okoro has a definite meaning in Igbo. It means 'young man'. There is no other word for young man in Igbo that I know. What does Okolo mean in Igala?

Just three?

The UK has about 10 Nigerians but the real medal hopefuls are: Lawrence Okoli (boxing), Christine Ohurougu (400m), and James Dasaolu (European 100m champion).

I fancy Ojie Edoborun's chances as well in 200m.

Igala and Idomas bear similar names with Igbos especially Enugu/Anambra exis; they had traded and inter-married before the colonial days and artificial boundaries were created by successive politicians and govts. Igala is one of the ethnic groups in Anambra State

There is nothing like 'corruptio nomen' here. Okolo is an Igbo name mostly a surname usually associated with Anambranians especially Nnewi, Ozubulu and Onitsha people. While Okoro is used in Imo and Abia states and some parts of Enugu and Ebonyi; Anambranians use Okolo.

Example : Most Rev. Jude Thaddeus Okolo, a Catholic Papal envoy from Ozubulu.

But Igala founded Nri and a lot of the Eboes from Anambra are actually of Igala descent e.g Odenigbo Aroli lol.

And since you lot are at loggerheads - you might as well slice the chic into two, with Eboe taking one half, while Igala can get the other half lol.

Deal or no deal?

Just shut your dirty mouth up! Igbo answer Okolo or Okoro, depending on the dialect they fall into. Okolo is the Dialect of Northern Igbo, while Okoro is the dialect of Southern Igbo. Some Igala People do answer Okolo due to their language similarity with Northern Igbos. Southern Igbo say IHE, Northern/Western Igbo say IFE/IVE, Southern Igbo pronounce the R in words/Sentences but Northern/Some Western Igbo's Substitute the R with L. That's it. Nigerians have a way of twisting and tweeting things to favor them. Since when has Igala become participators in Olympics/Common wealth games and All African Games?
