The story is not complete. A doctor who "stole" your kidney(s) will not willingly refer you to a more advanced hospital where his 'crime' will be found out.
Thank God some people can still use their brain.

They removed his kidneyskidneys and they've not sued/arrested/or burnt the clinician.

There was an allegation sometime ago that a US firm was planning to open a kidney 'farm' in the north.

Maybe they've stylishly started operations. God save us from the west.
Rumours like that is the reason the northerner are in mental chain.

I doubt FTH Gombe told them the kidneys are missing. May be they told them both kidneys failed. Nobody will take such likely. I was with Doctor Yakubu today at Jimta Clinics, Yola. I think our moderators should confirm some news.

Just coming out of his office right now..
As him about the case he said the man has no kidney that's why he refer them to FTH GOMBE INSTEAD OF FMC YOLA.

This story is fishy. If actually his kidneys were removed, he would have been dead before the referral. I think it's more of Acute kidney Injury that evolved to failure. But what do I know kwanu undecided undecided

I am sure they told him he had kidney failurd maybe due to the surgery he underwent and now the illiterate folks go about telling everyone that his kidneys were stolen by the other doctor.

Amazing the level of imbecility in this country.

False information. Go to the internet & read about kidney transplant donors. They are usually close relatives of the recipients.

This story is not complete. How long have the kidneys been "missing"? The practitioner is still practicing and not on his knees begging for his life. undecided Please let the doctor come clear his name.

Well....

1.The guy probably had kidney failure as a complication of the surgery. Happens...and it is a rare complication.(More info here )

2.Both kidneys were removed at a tertiary hospital.....will get back to you.

MODIFIED: Both kidneys can be removed....for several reasons

3.Nigeria does not have enough general surgeons. Largely due to a lack of enough doctors in the first place. So....a doctor who is not a surgical specialist does an operation in a peripheral hospital.......and when complications happen....

I expect the Guild to be investigating soon. Heads are going to roll.

Do you really know what you are saying, cos you sound like a medical personnel. Can a major operation (such as kidney removal) be done without the patient's consent? Can someone survive without the both kidneys?
And if you have read it very well they said his earlier ailment has nothing to do with kidney!

Any op performed in Nigeria at tertiary level is ALWAYS carried out with the patient's permission.(or if he can't give it...with the relatives/designated guardian)

My guess is that they told him that his kidneys were damaged beyond repair....and needed to be removed (note his kidneys were removed at Yola FMC)....so he gave his consent.

Anyway.....we need more info. Right now...my best guess, based on the available info....is that there was a rare surgical complication from the intial op by the private doc....which led them to FMC yola for a more complex op by a consultant surgeon.

And yes....YOU can survive without BOTH your kidneys....just that you would be having dialysis three times a week....which can be a drain on the pocket.
