does the knowledge acquired in school really applicable in labour market ?

Some of it, yes.

I use the practical maths and English I learnt at school. For example, I have needed to use fractions, percentages, arithmatic etc. I haven't had to use the algebra!

In my everyday life I've appreciated the knowledge of science, history, music and so on that I have (but I haven't really used them in work, no).

50% yes, meaning is not all u need to excel in office envrionment.
