Many have been brainwashed by Christianity and Islam, so this simple saying frighten them. They think it is occultic and etc. Eriwo ya means Eriwo ya meaning the uneducated multitude should give way!, children should give way and let trained minds discuss! Simple. Or let quality, trained people pass! Let them act!. That is the meaning. Aya gbo, Aya to, Aya je means. Give way and grow to old age, give way and prosper, give way and get answers! Nothing more!


The saying is important because an Awo gathering is a gathering of people with trained minds that use the scientific method in the mind sector. If the Yoruba had developed Nuclear physics for instance, those who have that knowledge would be Awos and when they gather together in a gathering of PhDs, Profs, Nobel laureattes and etc, they will be discussing at a level higher than what the masses or eriwo can flow with or understand, so they would start the conference with the words
