The battery is damaged and it's refusing to come on without a working battery. It wasn't always like this

There's more to it, a laptop should power on even without the battery.

you need to press some key button combination on your laptop keyboard to project it to the external or second screen through the hdmi cable. Like a Ctrl and a f function key

Your question one needs troubleshooting.

First check the power settings on your laptop and reset it.

Secondly the hall switch on your laptop motherboard might be faulty, the switch put the laptop into sleep/ hibernation mode when you close the lead, there is a magnet around your screen that makes it to function with the hall switch, when the magnet get close to switch it drops the voltage.

Lastly, the screen itself might be faulty, so take it to a laptop technician close to you for proper diagnosis.

I'm just seeing this Boss. Thanks a lot.

Like you said it takes longer time to boot up, it's not a DYI thing.

It takes cleaning the ME region of the bios or replacing some components in RAM or CPU section.
