clintonsparkz, You missed the definition of rooting a phone. It means removing carrier or manufacturer imposed limitations like what you are experiencing.

I have an AT&T HTC M7, faced similar issues with connectivity and battery, I rooted it and flashed a custom Rom.
Right now I can't be happier with the phone.

The best android experience is with a custom Rom.

Anything done wrongly never gives the expected result.

Rooting an HTC phone is easy, Google it, there is a HTC site for Unlocking (rooting), register and follow the steps.

There are many custom roms to choose from.
