There exists a Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria which doesn't have a secondary school. Be that as it may, not any longer in the coming months as it appears. Aminu Tambuwal , Sokoto State Senator, established the framework for the development of the principal secondary school in Gudu LGA, Sokoto.

The Governor laid the foundation for the school in the town of Balle, Gudu's central station.

Tambuwal while talking at the occasion said his organization set out on the venture as the area had remained the one and only out of the 23 local governments of the state without a Senior Secondary School.


The school will be a co-educational one, both for boys and girls. We have decided to make it a unity school and will attract students from all parts of Nigeria and neighbouring Niger republic. Students of the school would be taught in both English and French,” he said.

As per him, the contractor had since been paid the required 30 percent as required.

He said the task would be finished in the following four months, while the work started around two months prior.

Education is key to success both in this world and in the hereafter. The school is aimed at improving enrolment, retention and completion of students across the state. It is also aimed at improving equal access to
education for both boys and girls in the state.

“As the adage goes, as and when you educate a girl, you educate the society but when you educate a boy, you educate only an individual,” he added.

Tambuwal advised the contracting firm to complete the work on time , cautioning that trade off by regulating architects would not be overlooked.

Present at the occasion were development partners , and religious and customary rulers from inside and outside Sokoto.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, while talking at the occasion recognized the state government for embarking on the project.

Abubakar focused on the requirement for all youngsters to have equal opportunities for education.

. He described illiteracy as a “disease” which forces people to follow others blindly, and decried street begging by some children, saying such act was unIslamic.

The Sultan asked well off people to give grant to the offspring of less favored.

There are several secondary schools in Gudu LGA in Sokoto State and the one being built is in addition and part of the educational transformation going on in the state.

This list of yours is so terrible. Imagine the wide gap between male and female students. In a whole LGA female students are just 3% of the whole secondary sch student population. These group of illiterate women in the state are the ones who end up breeding almajiris and boko haram recruits.
