What Do You Think? by Nezan(m): 5:39pm On Oct 14, 2009
The greatest man in History, Jesus, had no servants, yet they called him master, had no degree, yet they called him teacher, had no medicines, yet they called him healer, He won no military battles, yet he conquered the world. God you too much!!

What do you think?
Re: What Do You Think? by jagunlabi(m): 5:50pm On Oct 14, 2009
There is no man called Jesus in history. But you might say he is the greatest man in the imagination of humans for the last 2000 plus years. The greatest fictitious character, yes.

^^ Funny, did Paul not exist at the time of Jesus? At least all atheist agree that Paul was the authentic author of his letters, He saw the disciples and discussed with them. No historian of that era has ever denied what Paul claimed happened. Give me a reference material around A.D.1 - A.D.100 denying the existence of Jesus and we shall start talking.

He surely should have gotten an education, for he erroneously described the mustard seed as the smallest seed in the world, when it most definitely is NOT. What an ignoramus!
Re: What Do You Think? by Nezan(m): 11:22am On Oct 15, 2009
^^ In the New Testament, Jesus tells his disciples:

Mt 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of
mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in
his field:
32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but
when it is grown, it is the greatest amoung
herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds
of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

The parable Jesus gave out has several conditions that are
specifically stated in the parable. To ignore all the other
statements Jesus made in that parable and all the discussion
prior to it, is to basically put words into Jesus's mouth
that he never said.

The context of Jesus's parable is that of a harvest, the
verses prior to that verse set, they were specifically
discussing a harvest, parallel's being made concerning
a harvest, seeds being sown and the crop being harvested.

The mustard seed Jesus mentioned is the smallest they had
that would get sown and then harvested, that all the people
would have known about then. The mustard seed Jesus described
is expected to be the black mustard, which does grow to about
12 feet tall in Israel.

Given the people Jesus was talking with, their knowledge
of the day, and the crops they would harvest, Jesus had
told them the truth. For them, the mustard seed is the
smallest seed that they would've sown and later harvested.

There is no contradiction in what Jesus had told them.
The parable that Jesus was giving out is an analogy, it's
not meant to provide any sort of science education, but
to convey a concept using common terms that they would
have understood, common concepts being used to explain
something they didn't understand.

Jesus's point was that the mustard seed starts out the
smallest of that grouping of seeds: common seeds that all
them would know about at that time, seeds that were sown to
harvest as a crop, but that even though it's the smallest
of all those seeds, it grows into something big enough to
seem to be a tree to the birds that would rest on the
branches of it.

Jesus said that is what the kingdom of heaven is like,
it starts out small and grows very big, it's initial
size not being a good indication of it's final size.

Jesus was right: from only a few men that he selected at
the start right there in Israel 2000 years ago, the number
of people believing him has since grown to billions of
people all over the world.

@ Nezan,

Why do religion make people's judgement down right unhealthy ? you just posted where Jesus said the mostard seed is the least of all seeds, and you defended him by saying he was talking about the sead known to men in that time, if all men considered the mostard seed the least of all seeds in that time, shouldn't Jesus the all knowing general correct them , why should he share there ignorance or maintain it with them ? accept that he was ignorant of it or you will be making the same mistake he made 2000 years ago.

@ mazaje,
It baffles me on how these Jesus guys can deny obvious truth just to keep their delusion alive, the trick is more with davidylan and his comrade Noetic,
Jesus said in the bible that This generation will not pass before he will come back again, but they once interpreted it on this forum as any generation that heard Jesus' gospel, they forgot that many generations past heard the gospel and yet the Jewish guy did not come in their generations, making what he said a big lie.
Re: What Do You Think? by Nezan(m): 1:57pm On Oct 15, 2009
I wonder how the mind of an atheist think. If you are in a community that grows cereals and guinea corn happens to be the smallest seed they know, how will you expect them to start comprehending that there is another smaller seed? You refer to what they know so that they will easily understand you!

Na today?. . . . the problem is that jesus told his followers in more than 3 different places that he will return in their life times in the bible no matter how much the lying christians want to twist what is written.

Mat 10:22"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
Mat 10:23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

Here we have jesus telling his disciples and followers what will happen to them he says on his account they will be brought before governors and kings and will be persecuted, he told them not to worry because the holy spirit will give them what to say. He talked about the events that will happen and told his followers that they should be steadfast and those them that hang on will recieve their rewards, he told them that before they finish going through the cities of Israel he will come back. . . .

According to Matthew 26:64 - When brought before Caiaphas, the Chief Priest, Jesus said to him, "I tell you, hereafter you shall see the Son of Man . . . coming on the clouds of heaven." According to this the second coming was to happen during Caiaphas' lifetime. Jesus told Caiaphas that he was going to see him coming in the clouds of heaven to establish his kingdom. . .

Matthew 24:33-34 - After prophesying a wide assortment of events including the second coming, Jesus said to his disciples, " . . . when you shall see all these things, know that it (the 2nd coming) is near, even at the door. This generation shall not pass till these things be fulfilled." He was obviously referring to the contemporary generation.

They can lie all the want but it is very clear from the bible that jesus promised his disciples and others around him that they will see him return from the clouds to establish his kingdom during their life time. . .

^ I wonder what atheist believe in. When I started this thread, one atheist ran in and claimed that Jesus never existed. Another came in and declared that Jesus made a scientific blunder, now see mazaje, an atheist, quoting and pretending to preach the Bible as if he knew what is written there, BTW, I wouldnt expect an atheist to comprehend the teachings of Christ. You people are just like the Jews who thought by saying He will destroy the temple and buid it in three days, Jesus was literally referring to destroying and building what took years to complete. You guys are too spiritually dead to comprehend the teachins of our Lord.

The problem is that I used to be like you i.e lie to myself and invent things that are not written in the bible to explain away what is actually written in the bible. The problem here is that even christians do not agree with the teachings of jesus and the words of the bible. Christians do not even agree on the basic nature of jesus, some say he is god himself while others say he is the son of god and a distainct person from god. What about young earth creationist, old earth creationist, bible literalist, those that believe that noah's flood was a local flood and many other divisions that exist amongst christians? You gus do not even understand anything you say you only love to pretend. . . . .  Jesus told Caiaphas that he was going to see him coming in the clouds of heaven to establish his kingdom it did not happen simple. . . jesus told his disciples that they should hang on and before they will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes. That is what is written in your bible.

Any way I know you will come around with more mythical claims like satan blinding our eyes or that we need the mythical holy ghost to understand the bible. . . na wuna sabi because even you christians DO NOT AGREE ON ANYTHING AT ALL. . . .you guys are constantly fighting with each other over meanings, doctorines and what the bible really says at the same all the sparring sides keep invoking the holy spirit as your source of inspiration. .  .Here is a story about some christian group that say they will burn all bibles that are not the king james version because only the king james version is the real bible. Even christians do not even agree on which version of the english bible is correct, yet they are quick to appeal to mythical beings like satan, demons, holy ghost etc just so that they can sleep at night.

The problem is that you need faith to believe in all these stories that have no basis in reality. . . It's not as if accepting faith as your guide gives you any basis for security in truth or fact, it just makes you feel good. And that's all you really require isn't it?

@mazaje; The fact that you were once a Christian doesnt count! I hope you know that many who followed Christ even then, backslided. The devil that blinded your eyes to seen the glory in Christ is unfortunately, still lurking around your heart, preventing you from coming to Christ wholeheartedly. You need special prayers.

2. The disagreements between Christians do not deny the fact that Jesus is Lord! We worship Him in Spirit and truth, not by our own leadings. The many translations of the Bible today do not lead to the denial of the fact that Jesus is Lord either.

3. Better repent, brother mazaje, Jesus still loves you and is positively disposed to forgiving your transgressions. Your utterances against Christ are not as bad as then Saul (later brother Paul) did, but our ever forgiving Lord forgave him.

It counts a lot. . . .I was once in the christian bubble and i know very much how it works. . . .What about this mythical devil that you have been decieved to believe in his existence despite the fact that you do not have any evidence at all to show that this devil exist outside the pages of the bible or your imaginations. . . .do you have any evidence to show that praying to imaginary deity works?                                  Quran 4

163. Verily, We have inspired you (O Muhammad ) as We inspired Nûh (Noah) and the Prophets after him; We (also) inspired Ibrâhim (Abraham), Ismâ'il (Ishmael), Ishâque (Isaac), Ya'qûb (Jacob), and AlAsbât [the twelve sons of Ya'qûb (Jacob)], 'Iesa (Jesus), Ayub (Job), Yûnus (Jonah), Hârûn (Aaron), and Sulaimân (Solomon), and to Dawûd (David) We gave the Zabûr (Psalms).

164. And Messengers We have mentioned to you before, and Messengers We have not mentioned to you, - and to Mûsa (Moses) Allâh spoke directly.

165. Messengers as bearers of good news as well as of warning in order that mankind should have no plea against Allâh after the Messengers. And Allâh is Ever AllPowerful, AllWise.

166. But Allâh bears witness to that which He has sent down (the Qur'ân) unto you (O Muhammad ), He has sent it down with His Knowledge, and the angels bear witness. And Allâh is All-Sufficient as a Witness.

167. Verily, those who disbelieve [by concealing the truth about Prophet Muhammad and his message of true Islâmic Monotheism written with them in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and prevent (mankind) from the Path of Allâh (Islâmic Monotheism), they have certainly strayed far away. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî). (See V.7:157)

168. Verily, those who disbelieve and did wrong [by concealing the truth about Prophet Muhammad and his message of true Islâmic Monotheism written with them in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], Allâh will not forgive them, nor will He guide them to any way, - (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî).

169. Except the way of Hell, to dwell therein forever, and this is ever easy for Allâh.

170. O mankind! Verily, there has come to you the Messenger (Muhammad ) with the truth from your Lord, so believe in him, it is better for you. But if you disbelieve, then certainly to Allâh belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. And Allâh is Ever AllKnowing, AllWise.

171. O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allâh aught but the truth. The Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allâh and His Word, ("Be!" - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rûh) created by Him; so believe in Allâh and His Messengers. Say not: "Three (trinity)!" Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allâh is (the only) One Ilâh (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allâh is AllSufficient as a Disposer of affairs.

172. The Messiah will never be proud to reject to be a slave to Allâh, nor the angels who are near (to Allâh). And whosoever rejects His worship and is proud, then He will gather them all together unto Himself.

Bring out the contradictions let us trash them here.

Compare Acts with Galatians and you'll see that Paul and Luke completely disagree about events in Paul's life. . . . .The immediate aftermath of Paul's conversion is differently described by Paul and Luke. Luke says that Paul is taken in by the Christian community in Damascus, but is quickly in danger from his former colleagues, who resent his conversion to Christianity. So he flees to Jerusalem where, not unnaturally, he is treated with considerable suspicion by the Jerusalem Christians, who know him only too well as an anti-Christian murdering thug and take some convincing that the leopard has really changed its spots. But he wins them round, and shortly after that, Acts begins to chronicle his missionary activities.

Paul, on the other hand, writes about a much lengthier process. In Galatians 1, he says that after his conversion he went away into Arabia, spent some time in Damascus, and didn't go back to Jerusalem for three years. He says it took another 14 years for a full realisation of his calling to form and to be shared with the leaders of the Jerusalem church.

I asked you a simple question: whether you believe in occults or not? are you not an African? you should have known that before coming of Christianity, our ancestors were into satanic worship and practices, even now, you see people engaging in witchcraft, or are you not in Africa? Point I am making is that it is not the Bible only that teaches about the existence of devil and God. Stop deluding yourself and confusing your mind thinking you are been intelligent, the devil wants to destroy your soul.

You see the bible ONLY tells you stories. . . .stories that have NO evidence at all in reality and then paints those it knows will not believe in the story as bad people. . . .Where is your evidence for this mythical satan? What does he look like? Where does he reside. . . can he be in 100 different places at the same time? How powerful is he? does he control the forces of nature? Is he the one causing all the havoc we see around? Why is it that your all powerful god can not defeat this mythical being?
I can tell you just one place were the mythical satan resides: in the heart of an atheists, though he makes his habitation all over the world because he is a spirit. Repent now and stop yielding your soul to the devil.

Must you lie to distort the truth? Paul disclosed that he went to Jerusalem after 3 years. Thereafter he went preaching and visited Jerusalem again 14 years after he was preaching with Barnabbas.
In any case, there is no contradiction in the narration of Paul's conversion, the basic facts are:
1. Paul persecuted Christians.
2. Jesus (whom you deny) appeared to him and converted him.
3. He did not went to Jerusalem immediately.
4. He later went to Jerusalem.
5. He met with the Apostles before he began his ministry.

Both Luke and Paul's accounts follow this chronological order. No cause for alarm.

@abuzola; who is more gullible? he who believes in Jesus or he who believes in a paedophillic, lying, adulterating, false prophet?

Abuzola:

@mazaje- God exist so desist from your illusion. If God doesn't exist how can things be in order ? Huh. The heaven/sky never collapse, etc

The generally Idea is that "God exists", yet you people can't describe exactly what that phrase means. What's god?  How does it exist? and since there are so many gods out there which of them exist? When ever I aks people to provide some evidence to show that their various gods exist outside there various religious text I'm greeted with either babbling dogmatic quotes that make no sense at all or smug silence.

So what has order got to do with the existence of the god you subscribe to? What about the  many disorder that we also see around(diseases, natural disasters etc) why do you not point to it as evidence for your own god? Do you have any evidece to show that allah exist outside the pages of the koran?

@mazaje; I asked you a simple question: whether you believe in occults or not? are you not an African? you should have known that before coming of Christianity, our ancestors were into satanic worship and practices, even now, you see people engaging in witchcraft, or are you not in Africa? Point I am making is that it is not the Bible only that teaches about the existence of devil and God. Stop deluding yourself and confusing your mind thinking you are been intelligent, the devil wants to destroy your soul.

What makes you believe that our ancestors were into satanic worship? I find it absurd that you accept the mythical beliefs of another culture(Jews) but for some reason best known to you, you choose to discard your own mythologies as satanic worship grin grin. . . . I have asked you to provide ONE evidence to show that satan exist outside your imaginations and the pages of the bible and all you have done is continue to make claims that have no basis in reality. . . . . As for witches and wizards they are also myths that eixts in the african culture. . . I live in europe and such myths have now been relagated to the pages of the history books. . . .witches only exist in cultures that accept the myth. . . . .I have never claimed to be more intelligent than anybody here. . .why do you guys always feel the need to talk about intelligence when ever you are asked to substatiate your claims? What is a soul do you have any evidence to show that a soul exist let alone it being destroyed by this mythical devil you are yet to provide any evidence for his existence?

How does a thing such as the devil exist in the hearts of atheist? is the mythical devil a blood vessel? Is the devil one entity or is he uncountable entities? How does he take up residence in the hearts of people? . . . .The devil is a myth and that myth exist only in your imaginations because you have been conditioned to believe in it. . . Its ok to subscribe to your myths but castigating others because they do not share your mythical conceptions and stories is just ridiculous. . . .
