A man believed to be in his late 30s has been tied to an electricity transmission pole by a watch dog committee at Awutu Breku in the Central Region for stealing 15 goats and sheep Tuesday dawn.

A member of the watch dog committee, Kojo Adawu told Adom News’ Kofi Adjei that three other accomplices are on the run.
According to him, residents at Awutu Breku and its surrounding communities have for some time now been recording cases of goats and sheep theft.

He said as a result the watch dog committee put surveillance measures in place to track and arrest the suspects who had gone to steal from a different town.
“Residents are always complaining of goat thefts in the area and so we tracked these people who were in a taxi cab. We stopped the taxi and was able to arrest one but the others have escaped. But we will arrest them very soon” he said.

Meanwhile, Kofi Adjei who is currently at the scene reported on Adom News that residents have refused to transfer the suspect to the police station but have resorted to tying him to an electric pole for public viewing.

The taxi cab used for the robbery he said has also been damaged by the watchdog committee members.
