Africa is not poor. Africa is a rich continent inhabited by poor people. Once we fix the people problem, everything else will fall into place.

Most people, including fellow Africans, they think of the continent as a place where nothing good can come from.

Foreigners have often referred to Africa as a black continent, not because the inhabitants are black but because of the persistent problems emanating from the continent.

However, the problems facing Africa do not arise from nature. The problems are man-made but not by Africans themselves.

Furthermore, the so-called African problems are more of perceptions than the reality on the ground. Until and unless the Africans themselves understand that their problems are created by those they trust to offer help, nothing positive will change for this great continent.

1. Humanitarian organization like UNICEF, and the likes have done more damage to Africa than the marginal positive impact they supposedly have had.

In order to raise money for their operations, they have engaged into a “poverty porn” depicting Africa with the most degrading, and humiliating images.

African people dignity is not something they cared about. The huge billboard and magazines photos showing Africa at its worst now fill the mind of billions of people around the world, and unfortunately those people can’t help but think about Africa only through those images.

(In the same time, those medias won’t show the photo of a dead American or English soldier, because it’s shocking and doesn’t respect human dignity).

It is widely believed that Africa is a poor continent even by the Africans themselves. If that were true, why then did the colonists come?

African countries have some of the most valuable natural resources that form raw materials for the industries responsible for the growth of the developed world yet the people living in Africa are poor. Humanitarian organization such as UNICEF, WHO and Doctors without Boarders among others survive on portraying Africa as a dark poor continent to get funding for their quire operations in the continent.

2. International Aid.

If foreign aid would develop any place, Africa will be the most developed continent in the world.

It is hard to find an African country that is debt free and the creditors are the so-called ‘Elite Continents’. The introduction of the International Aid was originally welcomed to get Africa on her feet.
Soon the lenders started controlling African leadership through these Aids. The leaders on the other hand relinquish responsibility to their subjects and behave so irrationally toward their own populations and the basic interest of their countries.

Don't bring your ignorance here. The U.S.A being the world power house today constitutes the largest population of Christians in the world with over 280million people (70%) identifying as Christians.

The former world power UK, has 62% Christians. There are about 65-70% Christians in Germany. Christians in Russia constitute about 75% of the entire population. These are the most powerful and civilized nations in the world.

Name one atheist country that can compete with these. Atheists always trying to be relevant.

3. Lack Of True Leadership.

In terms of natural resources, Africa is the world's richest continent. It has 50% of the world's gold, most of the world's diamonds and chromium,90% of the cobalt, 40% of the world's potential hydroelectric power, 65% of the manganese, millions of acres of untilled farmland, as well as other natural resources. Yet, despite this vast resource the bulk of African people live as if they were citzens of deserts.

The wisest man ever to walk this earth, King Solomon, said that where knowledge lacks, people perish.

It is obvious that Africans are perishing not for anything but because they lack knowledge. Africa is unique with unique problems and so the knowledge of the west is incompatible with the needs of the continent.

In as much as Africa has brilliant people, they are unable to identify an indigenous system, coach, educate their future leaders to offer the leadership that the continent needs for prosperity.

Africa is not poor, Africa has a leadership problem. For any society to prosper it should have a endogenous system of identifying, training and coaching its future leaders. Some countries do it through their military services, some do it through elite schools, and some others do it through informal coaching and assistance organizations or secret societies.

The main issue about Africa leadership is not the quality of its individuals, but the quality of the group of individuals.

Individually there are lot of brilliant people, but collectively they fail to work together harmoniously on long term vision, and commit with integrity and loyalty to their country or long term vision.

No
It's only in Africa that people force religion on their own lives
It's only in Africa that you'll see someone spend more time in church than his/her workplace/enterprise
It's only in Africa that people would rather waste their energy praying for miracles, instead of using that energy to develop their lives/careers.

I can go on and on undecided

4. Endless Conflicts.

Africa is known to be a place where a brother kills a brother and a son kills a father.

You would wonder why people who have lived alongside each other for generations suddenly decide to attack their each other/neighbours.

While the elites tell the world that these conflicts are fueled by ethnic, religion intolerance, they create the ethnic groups themselves.

Look at the unstable African countries where rebels attack the government. Who funds them? Where do they get those sophisticated weapons?

Kudos to you Explorers.
Well said but then, we cannot put the whole blame on these so called International Humanitarian Organizations because the problem with the African countries have been existing from from time immemorial and with all our leaders who were/are so myopic, bunch of egoists, the problems with African may in no doubt continue to thrive.

Just as it has been said earlier that we fail to realize that we are not as poor as we are been painted "Black" by these humanitarian organization, due to the level of leadership and government we have, we have not been able to explore more on our God's given resources.

Government and many of our rich men could have ventured their wealth into the humanitarian services and aid more of scholarship, motherless babies' homes, hospitals, financial empowerment programs etc but just because we have failed to realize our own worth and ability, we have trusted the foreigners for solutions to our inborn problems, little wonder we don't appreciate our own products any longer because we do not belief in ourselves.

Lol... No one forces religion on others at least in the Christian nations in Africa. It is by choice.

What sort of lie is the bolded. You mean people spend more time at church? Are you okay?

Pls Find another lie. I understand you're against religion but this makes no sense.

Bro, I have followed a lot of your threads, and I must say that your points are well thought out, and should make each of us sit back and really think....

How can we be abundantly blessed and still suffer?

Where did Africa loose her Pride??

Was it not our very own Queen Sheba who travelled all the way to Jerusalem to meet Solomon?

Is it not Egypt- an African Country, that is the origin of all civilization??

We even held the European Isrealis as Slaves thousands of years ago......

So what happened to Africa??

Thank you Explorer....

5. If you take a good look at the African society, you will realize there are two sets of people.

Those known to work their hearts out and still not make a living and those that do very little or nothing and live lavishly.

The first group is made of those who has no contact with “white” people, and the second is made of people who has contact with “white”people.

If you live in Africa or know some African people, make a list of 10 people you know or have heard about who have a “good life” and social privileges. You’ll quickly find out that 90% those who have a good life are people who work for the “white” or with the “white”.

They serve foreign-owned or controlled companies, organizations or foreign NGOs in Africa. They have big houses, nice cars, home servants, and enjoy high social status and privileges.

This group is admired by the young Africans growing, making them believe that they have to serve a ‘white man’ to achieve anything meaningful in life.

Being Afrocentric in solving Africa problem has not help the continent instead it created selfish leaders who are only interested in power. Just show me one genuine African leader who did not show his individualistic interest despite the rhetoric about Nationalism which provided a template for them to grab power.

The problem is that you can’t develop a country or continent where the majority of people who have the potential to become leaders are raised to be “good subalterns” to be successful.
