A Call For The Nigerian Youth by rectitude(m): 2:18pm On Oct 03, 2016 |
Considering the present state of the nation, it leaves one with some degree of worries, more worrisome is the mentality of the youths of this great nation… It is obvious the nation is in Economic crisis, it is also a known fact that our leaders have performed below par. Yet in all these, what has been the reaction of the people? All we hear is complains, lamentation, agitation, and unproductive arguments…some youths have even taken it upon themselves to be faithfully committed to the newspaper stands for no other thing than to argue about which political party the country has fared better. little wonder the country is where it is today- when a nation is void of critical thinkers the future becomes bleak. When would our youths realize that complains without action never changes a thing? Even if you pride yourself to be a social critic, when would you realize that no social critic ever changed the world? When the world trade center was destroyed by terrorist in American (September 11th 2001)…Thinkers went into action, the wise ones began to think of the need for security inventions that would detect such kind of attack before it happens, and that sprung up more security firms and security training companies. The moral is this- In time of trouble you don’t panic, you prepare. You don’t panic, you plan. Nigeria is in the moment of despair at present, our nation is in trouble as we speak… But the time has never been right for thinkers to spring up as now…Problems always come with solutions. There’s a demand on the youth of this nation to take action, not the action of carrying placards around shouting “we no go gri o, we no go gri”, Not the action of resulting to scheming how to rub your neighborhood of their belongings and cause them more pains, and yet not the action of taking to your fellow citizens on the internet with tribal bigotry ( which has become the order of the day). The situation demands action of critical thinking and analysis, the action of looking deep into yourself and asking ‘what can i do to help myself’? what can i do to become independent such that i don’t have to wait for employment rather I’ll be employer of labour. You see, the world is in need of people who can make a difference, there’s a place reserved for that boy or girl, man or woman who dares to look inward and against all odds defile the norms and look into himself for ideas, establish those ideas which in turn will brings monetary reward to him/her. That is why we celebrate those who have done so. Same reason the country stood still when a 30 year old American visited the country some weeks back in the name of Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook Founder). America that we so cherish today did not become great by the deeds of the government leaders, it has become what it is today through the share effort of the so many individuals who have within themselves develop their ideas which has in turn generated income for them and their nation. My Message Is… Instead of sitting there blaming the leaders for all your woes and misfortune, you can do something that will help you and others. Everyone has a place in this life, what you were born to become is inside you… your future is not ahead of you its inside of you. only if you’ll look, only if you’ll think differently. As we celebrate the independence of our dear Country let us reflect on these things. If the youth of this Nation adhere to this, there would be less people talking about the troubles because solutions would be everywhere for the citizenry to grasp. Remember, do not think of what your country will do for you, rather think of what you can do for your country.
