Untold Story Of SSS Raids On Judges’ Homes In Abuja, Six States by SuperS1Panther: 5:04pm On Oct 08, 2016
The State Security Service raided the homes of some senior Nigerian judges late Friday and early Saturday to gather evidence of corruption, officials have told PREMIUM TIMES.

The raids on multiple residences in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Gombe, Kano, Enugu and Calabar, were not aimed at arresting the judges, they said.
An official said the operation was ordered after months of investigations, during which the secret police established credibly that the affected judges were involved in questionable financial dealings.

The SSS initially submitted parts of its findings to the regulatory body, the National Judicial Council. Officials said the SSS moved in after the council merely recommended two of the judges for retirement, and not prosecution. The council also refused to cooperate with the SSS as the agency launched wider investigations into the cases for more evidence. The source explained that judges whose homes were raided include Adeniyi Ademola, and Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court in Abuja as well as Sylvester Ngwuta and John Okoro of the Supreme Court.

In Kano, the source said the home of a high court judge, Kabiru Auta, was raided along with another residence in Enugu belonging to the Chief Judge of the state, A. I. Umezulike. The two judges were earlier recommended for retirement recently by the NJC. The residences of a Gombe State judge, Muazu Pindiga, as well as that of his counterpart from Sokoto state, Justice Samia, were also raised during the operation.
Our source said during the search, documents linking Mr. Ngwuta or Okoro to estates worth over N1.5 billion were recovered.

At the residence of Mr. Ademola, the SSS recovered at least $400, 000 and N39 million in cash, in addition to documents of landed properties belonging to the federal judge.

The raid at Justice Mohammed Liman’s residence in Port Harcourt, our sources said, was ordered to allow operatives search the house because he was believed to be in possession of $2 million.

Corrupt judges should be taken down.

The looters of our commonwealth are always confident of going to courts seeking questionable injunctions?

How will a Judge grant an injunction in perpetuity that an Ex-Gov must not be tried by anybody? Is that sane?

Where is RIcky Tarfa that was making noise before? Is he not the one pleading for ''Plea Bargain'' now? It is this useless SAN that only takes his case to only one Judge and he has won all and yet he said there is no big deal in donating N10m for the burial of the Judge's father.

Corrupt Judges are the threats to our democracy and a major clog in the wheel of progress of this nation and fight against corruption.

The searchlight should be beamed on the Judiciary, if we really want to have a holistic fight against corruption.

Unfortunately, those corrupt judges always believe they are above the law and security agents. You need to hear what some lawyers are saying some of these Judges do. They adjourn cases till eternity after collecting money just to frustrate the other party.

Just watch how those Judges will shift to ''Plea Bargain'' Mode in days to come.

That was how Ricky Tarfa made so much noise when he was arrested and he is now pleading for ''Plea Bargain''.

Corruption fight must be taken to the doorstep of the judiciary too. They are part of the problem of Nigeria. How many court case can a common man win in court against the rich and mighty?

The DSS acted ultra vires. They went overboard with their abominable actions.

The fight against corruption, while applaudable, must be done within the ambit of law.

The bench should consider this appalling treatment of its members an assault on its independence. All lovers of democracy and the rule of law must rise in unison and condemn this act of tyranny. Nigeria is not Stalin's Russia and the President must be told so.

By the way, the DSS should provide ocular evidence of the money found in the homes of these judges. It has become a pastime of the government and its agencies to bandy humongous figures about.

That's their regular trade mark

Someone will sing between those three , more arrests will be made, several transactions will probably lead to Patience or Jona himself , and some people will still come here and shout witch hunt,

This movie go sweet tire

For the people asking whether DSS has the power of arrest, this answers your question

section 3 (1) of the SSS instrument I of 1999 provides: "For the purpose of facilitating the discharge of its functions under these instrument, personnel of the State Security Services are hereby conferred with the powers of Superior Police officer in respect of searches and arrest". In simple terms, the law vests on the personnel of the SSS the same powers of arrest vested on officers of the NPF

Section 2 of the Instrument provides that the SSS shall in pursuance of the above objective perform certain functions some of which include the prevention, detection and investigation of economic crimes of National security dimension, terrorist activities, inter-group conflicts, threats to law and order, provision of protective security, vetting etc.

A wise man also said -- there is nothing hidden under the sun and no crime shall go unpunished.

In a simple layman's English -- there is no act either done in bedroom or Qatar or Ghana that is hidden from eagle-eye of DSS.

In this case, it is Corruption 1 vs Anti-Corruption 1.

this is becoming interesting... this country as gotten to a certain level whereby an ordinary man can no longer get justice in the court of law anymore.

this is a fight that all the lower class citizen must all support.

Note: and to those fool shouting witch-hunting, crying that DSS did arrest those crook without warrant. my Question to them is that when Police stop an ordinary citizen walking and started searching ur pocket including your contact did they show us any searching warrant? when we've been arrest beating and locking inside cell for no reason even when constitution made it cleared that no one should be in police custody for 24hrs without charging to court and they still detain people for even 2 weeks and finally collect a huge money from the poor citizen even when the constitution made it clear that Bail is FREE..

Ain't we all citizen in this country? can saraki, Buhari, tinubu , Fayose or ffk Son or Daughter be arrested unlawfully? can they be detain even for 3mins? can they?

we are always the one suffering for their committed sins, even the election that made us became ourselves enemy my question is simple can one of you shows me the picture of buhari or Jonathan or saraki or dogara children in polling unit when votting? you can't because they are wiser than you by flying their family to abroad and those that have theirs here in naija will instruct them not to step outside..

truly we have bad leaders in this country but the Follower are the Worst.

DSS arrest suspected Judges some animals were crying abeg shey na me dem for cum arrest? and if arresting them was unlawful doesn't that make us equal? abi wen SARS cum buggle me for houz even search my house without showing me search warrant and pack all my money go abeg who I complain to abide ain't that unlawful?
