The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has reacted to the arrest and detention of two Supreme Court Justices and judges on Saturday by men of the Department.

The DSS has claimed N93 million was recovered from the residences of the judicial officers but the NBA has declared a judicial state of emergency until their release.

The NBA President Abubakar Mahmoud, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, Olisa Agbakoba SAN, JB Daudu SAN and others were at a press conference as they promised: “grave consequences if the judges are not released immediately.”

It is the job of National Judiciary Council to discipline corrupt judges.

If the DSS have taken upon this job, then it means the executive have just passed a vote of no confidence on the NJC.

Next will be the Legislature

Even my grandma's tales of the Biafran war is not as scary as what DSS just did. For the love of Mike is there no other way of going about prosecuting these Judges other than this braggadocio?

We are in trouble!

This is a shame, real shame.
I hope those applauding Buhari on this matter realize how gravely dangerous this is. An attack on the judiciary is an attack on the common man. When Buhari succeeds in pocketing the judiciary through these harrasment and intimidation, the common man would be left exposed with nowhere to run to.

Every right thinking Nigerian must rise and condemn this unholy act of Buhari before it's too late.

If you are corrupt and it has been well established, i careless about one stup1d warrant. When he was being corrupt, he did not need any warrant to be and when he is being arrested for his crime too, warrant is not required.

NBA should go to court or forever Shut up!

The Judges must be tried, if a prima facie has been established against them!

Raids are carried out by security agencies against judges, even in saner climes when evidence or even a whiff of corruption is found against even just a single judge, talkless of where the entire institution here has been corrupted.
Infact, sometimes even the security agencies pose as undercover agents and if a judge is recorded to as so much willing to accept a bribe or serve as a go between for any other judge, without even actually taking it,its a serious offence for which he/she is charged and prosecuted by d state. That is how highly demanding the integrity of judges in saner climes are.
What NBA shud ask for is speedy charging of the judges to court, not insisting that the security agencies cannot carry out their duties. They shud also voice out against any selectiveness, which is the hallmark of this govt.
A corrupt judge is a threat to national security,as evidenced in the happenings in Rivers state,so DSS is well within it's core mandate of protecting national security.

no executive is arresting the Judiciary, the head of the executive has immunity from such prosecution but the head of the judiciary does not.

Was it the Executive that arrested the Judges ? Mind you Judges were arrested and not the Judiciary.

Is it a crime for DSS to fulfil their constitutional duties?

After giving this whole epistle, I thought you'd at least support your claim with at least one example of a similar gestapo raid on a judge in 'saner' climes.

Rev up your strength for the journey ahead is still far.
