6 Coaches who could be drafted into Super Falcons Technical crew

Moses Aduku: Coach Aduku is the manager of Aiteo Cup Champions, Bayelsa Queens. The manager has been with the Bayelsa team since the departure of Rollanndson Odeh and has changed the fortunes of the club to become major contenders in the league. Aduku won the Aiteo Cup with Bayelsa Queens this year.

Peter Dedevbo: He has experience in coaching Nigerian women teams. He led the Flamingoes to the U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan and also led the Falconets to the final of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada and also took the Falconets to the World Cup in 2016. The team failed to progress from the group stage despite winning two games.

Florence Omagbemi:The former captain of the Super Falcons led the team to win the African Women Cup of Nations in 2016. After the tournament, her contract was not renewed and she was replaced by Swedish coach, Thomas Dennerby. She was building a strong team and played a difficult tournament, beating hosts Cameroon in the final.

Uche Eucharia:
She led the Super Falcons to AWCON 2010 where the Falcons lifted the tournament. Uche had a mixture of the experienced legs in the team and some young players like Desire Oparanozie, Ngozi Okobi, Francisca Ordega and others who joined from the U-17 and the U-20 teams. She led the Falcons to the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2011 where the Falcons lost two games and won 1-0 against Canada and

Maureen Mmadu: She is one of the most qualified coaches in Nigeria and the first African woman to coach a top team in Europe when she became the coach of Avaldsnes of Norway. She was Thomas Dennerby's assistant as the team won the WAFU Cup, the AWCON and also progressed to the round of 16 at the World Cup in France.

Edwin Okon: He is one of the most experienced managers in the country and has a record of success in Nigerian football. Coach Okon has won laurels with Rivers Angels and won the AWCON in 2014. He led the Falcons to the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada where the Falcons failed to progress from a difficult group. One of the highlights of his team as the Super Falcons coach was when the Super Falcons came from three goals down to draw 3-3 with Sweden. He led the Falconets to the U-20 Women's World Cup in 2012 where the team finished fourth after losing 2-1 to hosts, Japan in the third place game.

I think NFF should relieve the current coach of his duties and replace him with Florence Omagbemi, Eucharia Uche and Maureen Mmadụ. Then watch as falcons will start their domination again.......

Head Coach; Florence Omagbemi
1st Assistant Coach; Mercy Akide Udoh

AWCON 2022 Race:
NFF appoints Madugu, Okon to Super Falcons’ technical crew

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday absorbed Coaches Justin Madugu and Edwin Okon into the technical crew of the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, in line with a recent resolve to rejig the team’s technical group.

This was confirmed in a press release by the NFF Communications Department.

In a brief meeting presided over by President of the NFF, Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick at the Federation’s headquarters in Abuja, Madugu was designated the new 1st Assistant Coach of the Super Falcons while Edwin Okon, Chief Coach of Rivers Angels FC, will be Chief Scout for the squad.

Head Coach Randy Waldrum keeps his position. Coach Ann Chiejine will be 2nd Assistant Coach while Wemimo Matthew moves to the U20 team, Falconets.

“I want to see a Super Falcons’ squad that is feared by the opposition not only in Africa but all over the world. I trust that you two (Madugu and Okon) will bring some positive difference to our golden Super Falcons. I don’t want to see our Falcons struggling against teams in Africa when we should actually be going toe-to-toe with the best teams in the world.

“From now, we will scout for more players at home and abroad, particularly at home, and we will start organizing camps for the Super Falcons on the home front even before the overseas-based players arrive. We must make the effort and the investment to have a stronger squad that will continue to do Nigeria proud.”

Also present were NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi; Technical Director, Mr Austin Eguavoen; Director of Communications, Mr Ademola Olajire; Ag. Director of Competitions, Ms Ruth David and; Head of International, Mr Dayo Enebi Achor.

Following a 2-0 defeat of the Black Queens of Ghana in the first leg of the second round of the Women AFCON qualifiers, the Falcons lost 0-1 to the Queens in Accra to scrape through to the final round on 2-1 aggregate.

Victory meant the Falcons will take on the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the final round. The Elephants, who eliminated the Falcons from the race to the Tokyo Olympics on the away goal rule, blitzed past their counterparts from Niger Republic 20-0 on aggregate.

Nigeria will host the first leg in the second week of February 2022, with the return leg in Abidjan a week later.

In a related development, the President of NFF, Mr Pinnick has approved the opening of the Falconets’ camp as from this weekend for their second round fixture against their counterparts from Congo in December. This is in connection with the African qualifying race for the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup slated for Costa Rica.

The Congolese will host the first leg on 5th December, with the return leg in Lagos on 16th December.

Justin Madugu has worked with the Superfalcons years ago during the playing days of Perpetua Nkwocha, Stella Mbachu and Precious Dede, I just hope this decision by NFF yield a great result..

Coach Okon as Scout especially for the Home Based Player's isn't a bad idea too.

My question remains why has Mercy Akide Udoh hasn't been given a chance??

Wemimo power strong Sha... From 2010 till date that woman have been holding one position or the other from U17, U20 to the Superfalcons

CAF and their Satanic Zoning. Why would Nigeria have to play against Ghana and CIV to qualify for the AWC. These three teams can easily make the semis of any AWCON.

West Africa again is being cheated.

Nonsense

Why draft him to assist or scout when he can do better than Randy Waldrop?

He has lead us to world cup before, so why belittle him

So we have far better locals that can do better that Randy Waldrop

That's the politics NFF is playing on Nigerians

The global practice now is turning ex internationals who have coaching licence and experience to coach their national team.

Both the male and female teams

In Ukraine you see Chevchenko, for male team

In south Africa see the bayana bayana with Desiree Elise, ....... She long been there learn the trade till she disgraced us in Aisha buhari cup.

So is Nigeria progressing or regression

Why appoint a part time US college coach as super falcons coach.... Who hasn't bettered the team in any way?

When we have so many qualified ex internationals

You can name them

But because of personal interest of kick back they get... They will get a rooky and deny them
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by justicechichex: 4:56pm On Nov 03, 2021
The rejigging they actually talked about is this rubbish. Instead of removing that part time teacher, they even demoted Ann Chiejine. Btw, why would Edwin Okon who has won the AWCON before, taken this team to the world cup, knows the in and out of the team be given such a role. Someone who's way better than that Randy guy...

Sorry to say this, this is not progression...

New Waldrum’s Assistants Recommend Overhauling Of Super Falcons

The two coaches appointed Tuesday by the Nigeria Football Federation to assist Super Falcons Head coach, Randy Waldrum, are of the view that the team need to be overhauled for improved performance,
The coaches, Justine Madugu and Edwin Okon, told Completesports.com in separate chats Tuesday soon after their meeting with the President of NFF, Amaju Piñnick and other chieftains of the federation, that their assignment include scouting and training young, quality players, home and abroad, for the Super Falcons

Okon, a former coach of Super Falcons who is now the Chief Scout, is saddled with the responsibility of scouting for players from the domestic league and the leagues abroad. He insists that the team must be overhauled for Nigeria to maintain her dominance of the women’s football in the continent

“I am optimistic that the Super Falcons will still dominate women’s football in Africa for long if we overhaul the current squad with the introduction of young and very good players in and outside Nigeria. We need to beef up the team to maintain our position as the best team in Africa,” Okon who is the coach of Nigeria Women’s Football League champions, Rivers Angels, stated
We have to go to work immediately to help fish out players who take over from the ageing and out of form players in the Super Falcons. We cannot afford to miss qualifying for the World Cup in 2023, so we would recommend the players that will help the coach in moving forward.”

On his part, Justine Madugu is now the First Assistant Coach, agreed that the Super Falcons needs strengthening up with the gradual injection of younger and hungrier players, adding that the team still has the quality to conquer Africa again

“The process of rebuilding a team has to be a gradual process. We cannot just throw away the ageing players, we need some of them around to help the young one develop. We shall allow them to compete with the older players for places in the team. We have to ease them off gradually,” Madugu stated.

He added: “We know these players and we know their capacity and mentality and we know our strength. It is those strengths that we work on so that we can get the best out of the players.

“When European coaches arrive Africa, it always takes them a while to settle down and understand the players and the time is not there. That is why they need coaches who know these players to guide them,” Madugu stressed.

This has always been my point of view on Waldrum. He just spent a year as our coach (appointed October 5).

Let's give him the chance. Since he came, we've won 5 matches, drawn Portugal, lost 3- USA, Jamaica (0-1), and Ghana (2nd leg loss).

Let him grow with the team. We can't keep throwing out all the woods in the name of getting better results. We will be left with nothing. Each coach will have to start getting acquainted with team, restructuring and understanding them. Within a year, we send them off. And the process begins afresh.

That's because the problem is not the coach, neither is it the players; the problem is the administration. It's because of that bad administration that Florence Omagbemi left, it's because of that bad administration that Thomas Dennerby left, it's because of that bad administration that we've gone long periods without friendlies in the past and no matter whoever you've got as players or coaches, there's no guarantee that the bad administration will not mess things up.

Whatever happens in the office will eventually affect the performance on the field.
