I absolutely agree. It's very sad that most us are either not objective or choose not to be. This lack of objectivity has led to the watering down of many important issues.

Imagine the first lady of another country saying what Aisha said, that president's career is as good as finished. She looks very reasonable to me and seems to understand what is at stake so for to have said all these, not that it was something she said somewhere that was recorded and leaked, but in an interview that she granted willingly should be a serious cause for concern.

I really wish we would stop trivializing very important matters.

I see ur point. But when you say"face it head on" in what way do you mean? 1. Be part of the problem or 2. Actually make an attempt to diminish the problem?
Face it head on means face it as it is. That is, confront it with the hopes of changing it. Never forget that nigeria's problem is like a hydra monster, cut one head off and two more grow in its place.

Being a"realist" doesn't give one the excuse not to try to change how things work.
In almost every society, speaking against an oppressive force makes one a target of some sort.agreed.So because of that one reason, one shouldn't keep fighting for what's right? A person doesn't need to be a Gani or a Fela or a Mandela to fight for what's right and just. And I'm sure Ms Buhari must have taken some prudent consideration before saying all she has.
Yes, a person doesn't need to be Gani, Fela or Mandela. What I meant by using these people is just me asking: is that person ready to go through all what these men went through? Is that person ready to be oppressed, repressed, suppressed and condemned? That's what I'm asking.

Believe me, I'm quite sure Mrs Buhari didn't consider the action of her words for if she did, she wouldn't have granted that interview and spew all what she spewed.

About talking politics with her husband "in their bedroom" (This is the 21st century for goodness sake!)how do you know she doesn't.She's clearly frustrated at buhari seeing how he refuses to listen to reason. And in what ways are her opinions baseless? She's saying exactly the same thing ordinary Nigerians are saying.
Is Mrs Buhari a politician? She only came into the scene when the APC was formed. I have never heard or even seen her campaign when President Buhari campaigned and contested election under the umbrella of the CPC.

This being the twenty first century doesn't mean people should throw their senses in the gutter, especially when there are flies in that gutter. If she's frustrated at her husband, she should tell him to his face, not telling him via an interview.

You were there when Apc was formed.so? Even with their card. I doubt your opinions no matter how well intentioned mean anything to the ogas at the top.I don't need an Apc members card to criticize their affairs. No matter how they try to cover it,their affairs concern me cos whatever decision they make will eventually AFFECT me.
No doubt. That's why you should criticise with reason and logic, and not sentiment because sentiment is what you're clearly using here.
Your decision not to vote Buhari in 2019 even as a Apc member changes nothing cos your beloved"powers that be" whom u agree should be appeased will rig him in anyway.Which is why I clamor for sanitizing the system.By refusing to fear them.Their strength lies in our continous fear of them.We keep forgetting that we are larger than these few individuals and continue to fear them.
Every politically aware person knows that Nigerian politics has been filthy since 1960.Does that mean we can't make an effort to sanitize things? Are you saying because of persecution all should shut up and dumbly watch every thing go to hell?...and even add more fuel to the raging fire if possible.
Man you call me idealistic...fine.
But I know I'd rather live in a country filled with idealists willing to fight for their "unrealistic" ideas than with the so called realists that don't give a darn about making things work differently.
Nigeria actually needs that rebellion she is scared of!
One word for the emboldened. Are you willing to come out and criticise them? Not to shout and rant on social media alone. Are you willing to stand firm to your ideals and look them in the eye and tell them NO!!!.

Think first before you answer please. smiley

Be that as it may, this is politics and politics is about interest.

Those who formed and planned the winning of the election must be compensated, plain and simple.

Mrs Buhari should keep her opinion(s) to herself and she should stop meddling in matters that doesn't concern her cos last I checked, she wasn't present when all the political parties that formed the APC were merging and agreeing on what to do, how to do it and when to do it.

Let's just hope her utterance doesn't turn around and hurt her, cos this was exactly what Patience Jonathan did. Meddling in things that concern her not.

How can Aisha wield any influence within the presidency when the president himself said there will not be office of first lady in his govt

Influence and position are 2 different things. You can have both or have one without the other. We have many who have great influence without any position.

But speaking of position, being the president's wife is enough for her to be able to influence things.

President is not necessary need to know all the political appointees ... what he need is just their CV which will be pass to national assembly for screening.
Buhari shut and placed Aisha to where she belong, She should stop wailing.

This is the part where I didn't really agree with Aisha, competence should be the basis for appointment and not familiarity. There is usually some sort of reward system for those that got him there but not at the expense of what they are trying to achieve.

But she went on say that some of the appointees do not even share the vision of the progressives and were actually appointed by just a few so she actually has a point there.

No matter how competent a person is perceived to be, I don't think you would employ such persons if they don't share the vision and values of your organization.

Well, some of you guys been saying Buhari did this did that, and even found him responsible for the economic downtime. this economic challenge all started in 2014 by the previous administration. Buhari really has a great plan for Nigerians, he is trying to change Nigeria to be more better but some folks don't understand cry . b4 change shld fully take place there must be hardship, so as to enjoy at last. Just imagine, about 1.2 trillion naira was stolen from government accnt in 2006 to 2013, were the government sleeping? boko haram kills millions and yet nothing was done. He is trying his best to fight against coruption in the country. Let's support H.E MUHAMADU BUHARI to make this nation more bigger. The huge problem of some Nigerians is tribalism, they will be like this is not my tribe as such i don't support him. My prayer daily is that God will touch the hearts of some Nigerians to stop this tribal sentiment, God did not make a mistake by bringing us together, so let us continue to be together. If you support me can you say #IREPNAIJA. thanks

Well don't assume that I am a youth. Marital fidelity covers loyalty too. If one has to be looking over his shoulder on what mischief the wife may be up to, one is done for. If your opponent have your wife on his side, hmm...pray hard. I am not saying she shouldn't have an opinion or even differ from her husband method of governance, but the manner she has gone about it publicly is not neat.

She can shout all she cares in the house but in public, she should maintain semblance of unity. Hillary knew about Bill's philandering, she didn't publicly call him out but that doesn't mean she approved of it. PEJ was said to differ with GEJ on the concession of defeat but nobody could quote her.

Will her interview make Buhari give good governance? I don't think so. She has only succeeded in dissociating herself from Buhari's failure which brings us back to the issue of marital loyalty.

Here u go showing u haven't thought holistically before commenting. Before she came forward with these comments, do u know if all efforts to talk to her husband has bin futile?(we keep hearing he doesn't listen to anyone, so mayb dats a sign). Bt bear in mind this first lady has bin classier than d previous and is yet to be as controversial too. She wldnt just wake up one morning with a different personality and mentality. As someone said, she'll either b a very terrible person or she has genuinely seen enough cause for concern and she's alarmed. If most citizens become really discontent with the way things are and decide to turn on buhari, do u think she and her kids will be spared? (i.e see d stick d Abacha family gets till date cos of Sani and his leadership). This brings me to my final question. From an objective perspective, if a lady believes her country is being threatened from the actions of her husband, are u saying she is obligated to put her marriage first before her country and it's citizens? Pls wot happened to defending our father land at all cost, from all forms of attack or threats, both external and internal. Ur post is from a very subjective and selfish mindset dat has no place in d growth of this country. As u said, ur probably not a youth, so I'll take solace in d fact ur in d generation of our current archaic leaders who have been running this country into the ground for as far back as I can remember.

Nigerians re too civilised to be tossed around, we re all watching, no matter how long you try to hide the truth, it must surely unfold,
Buhari hv lost his Glory; He z just a shadow of himself.
Sen Shehu Sani from Kaduna advised northern elders to call Buhari to order but they keep on supporting him.
Aisha z just concerned about her husband's reputation, what history n posterity will hold of her family, she hv d interest of Nig n her family @heart, but some people are misunderstanding her to be mischievous.
Itz quite unfortunate that some programmed robots are always bent on defending their masters no matter what, they hv been subjected to a caste system, always sent to an Islamic school(almajiri) were they re brainwashed to believe in getting 72 virgins as a reward and easily exploited 4 political or economic gain, while The Northern High class attends the best school within n outside d country and Neva comes close to any Islamiyya. What a Scam!

I have never been pro Buhari, but this action of his wife tells me that Buhari is the best leader for Nigeria. A president does not need to know anyone personally before appointing him. Appointments should be made based on ones capabilities. His wife is complaining? Is a president's wife supposed to have an input in presidential appointments? She is probably bitter because she's been unable to sway The President. She may be able to sway her husband, but not in his capacity as the President. Thank you Mr. President for not giving in to your party and family to the detriment of Nigeria. Now, please do something about the dollar rate.

Rubbish never ending soap opera. The sooner Nigerians realize they are their own government the better for every citizen. Watch her backtrack on every promise made here in the near future. This is not the first time someone in power swears on something and changes tune later on. The only 'reaction' one would see after the fact are multiple Nairaland memes, news releases and APC/PDP name-calling.

We haven't forgotten in 2015 it was promised the office of the First Lady had no official power, what then is this interview for? Is she a minister, governor or diplomat? I guess no. This interview was a waste of my time.
