In the world today, one story that comes up in the mind of almost everyone when the word 'birthright' is mentioned is the biblical story of Esau and Jacob. It is how Esau out of hunger, for a pottage sold his birthright and how it was quite painful that he could not get it back though he sought for it in tears.

The Esau and Jacob scenario seem to play back right before us. And this have led to the heart piercing question, Have you sold your birthright? Many events which occur before us today exemplifies how Nigerian youths have sold their birthright, mortgaging their future and posterity to the evil pottage of our grand political gladiators who have been in power since we were born and have remained in power changing from one office to another till date.

During elections, you fight and defend and do anything you can to vote and secure your votes for a politician , only for them to get into power and shut the door against you. Have you sold your birthright?

The youths have always remained the powerhouse for political campaigns and evil obnoxious political practices. Our politicians offer peanuts in form of money, juicy promises, food items and commodities that cant last more than a week, cheap political stunts like walking and dancing in public squares, standing on the queue, eating in pubs, buying made in Nigeria goods in local markets and groceries and other cheap political innuendos to decieve the people, especially youths. Once the election is over, the tide of events changes. Their 'fake ' mobile lines becomes unreachable, purchase of made in nigeria goods ends, holidays now ends in Dubai, children is withdrawn from public schools to Ivy Leagues, healthcare becomes a tourist affair in Europe and India and the electorate is been deceived and made a people to be trampled and good for nothing. Having been decieved, one begins to ask, have you sold your birthright for deceptive 'stomach infrastructures'?

Some of our political leaders do not know the basics and tenets of good governance. Yet, during elections, they make incredible and unrealistic campaign promises; use the youths for political blackmails against good and better opponents. Out of poverty, indifference, apathy, myopia, nonchalance, fear, ethnoreligious sentiments and selfishness , we offer ourselves as political arsenals to destroy our heritage. Against this background, you need to answer, Have you sold your birthright?

Our nation is blessed with all it takes to enjoy democratic and good governance such as improved standard of living, liveability index, high life expectancy rate, high literacy rate, food security, good infrastructures, high per capital income ratio, reduced gini coefficient and other economic and social welfare indices for a developed civilized society. THIS IS OUR BIRTHRIGHT! But like Esau, we have sold our birthright to a group of cabal holding this nation at ransome, who have no clear cut economic development and citizens welfare policies and plans but with a penchant for lootocracy, destruction of the rule of law, bending the laws to suit their whims and caprices, inordinate show of flamboyance and extravagance, intimidation, suppression and oppression of the electorate without sympathy, empathy, and love. When the youths who should have revived the voice of hope, show the beacon of light, lead in the forefront of national revival and unity becomes unconcerned, egotistic, ethnoreligious biased, chavinist, it becomes pre-emptive to ask, Have you Sold your Birthright?

The politics of today have become the politics of money and political man-no-man. Credibility is gone. Patriotism is dead and buried. Ethnicity and tribal affiliations has been revived as the labours of our founding fathers seem to be in vain. Over the media you will see and hear negative vituperations against one another across ethnic divides. This, the politicians have used to our undoing. In the 3-Arms of government, there is no ethnicity because they have a common goal-LOOTOCRACY. Voices are only heard when one arm seem aggrieved in the sharing. Even at this, it is the youth who is paid money and devilish peanuts for protests, placard carrying in defense or attack of political criminals. Right before us, our actions often times supports impunity. While issues of cheap, unpatriotic, unnecessary protests, political blackmails is a recurring phenomenon, we insist to ask, Have you sold your birthright?

In all these state of hopelessness, there is a group of patriotic Nigerians who having made up their mind have come to boldly say WE HAVE NOT SOLD OUR BIRTHRIGHT AND WE WONT SALE OUR BIRTHRIGHT! These are members of the New Nigeria Vanguard. They are the ones ever ready, dedicated, and selfless to building a New Nigeria that is Secured, Peaceful, United, Progressive and Corruption-free for Now and Posterity.

I admire your passion. But I must warn that it is not rooted in the RIGHT knowledge.

You cannot cure a disease that's wrongly diagnosed.

Contrary to your suggestion, Nigeria's problem is not insecurity, anarchy, divisiveness, stagnation, or corruption. No, these are mere symptoms of the problem.

The reall problem of Nigeria is Institutionslized Injustice. The country's political and economic structure is deliberately designed and engineered to be unjust and perpetuate injustice.

And God does NOT bless injustice.

Yes, he may have mercy and keep the unjust entity from utter destruction, but He will never prosper it until the institutionalized injustice is totally dismantled.

This explains why, in spite of all the prayers and abundance of resources, the country still has almost nothing to show after 50 years of independence.

So if you and your group do not just want to blow hurt air, you guys should focus on social justice. And once that's done, all the symptoms of injustice, that you are currently focusing on, will either dissapear or reduce drastically.
