1. What qualifies a non muslim minor to convert to islam ? 2. What does Quran,hadith and scholars says about converting a minor ? 3. Can a minor be converted to islam without his parent consent ? Those with deep knowledge this should enlight a brother here please.

Let's define it broadly.

Who is a minor? Islamically a minor is not defined by age. Islam does not care about what the western world called minor as below 18. A minor is a person who has not attains the age of puberty.

A minor (a person who has not attains puberty) is already a Muslim. Why should a Muslim convert to Muslim/Islam again.


Abu Huraira reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: No babe is born but upon Fitra. It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Polytheist. A person said: Allaah's Messenger, what is your opinion if they were to die before that (before reaching the age of adolescence when they can distinguish between right and wrong)? He said: It is Allaah alone Who knows what they would be doing.

As aforementioned a minor who has not attain the age of Puberty is born a Muslim, except if his parents make him otherwise when he become an adult. The conditions of you being a man that can decide is puberty and sense. Here I borrowed verse from suratul nisa'i to explain.

And test the orphans until they attain puberty; then if you find in them maturity of intellect, make over to them their property, and do not consume it extravagantly and hastily, lest they attain to full age; and whoever is rich, let him abstain altogether, and whoever is poor, let him eat reasonably; then when you make over to them their property, call witnesses in their presence; and Allah is enough as a Reckoner. – Quran 4:6

The verse which orders guardians to give orphans their property when they reach an age of marriage/ puberty and at an age when they perceive sound judgement.

That means for a person to have freedom of right and wrong must fulfill two conditions. Puberty and Sense.
