Yes after death is JUDGEMENT. Either heaven or hellfire. There is no purgatory. That is Catholic doctrine and has no biblical backup.

After death a sinner goes to hellfire. And a righteous man goes to heaven. They will remain there till the final Judgement. There are 2 Judgements. The judgement of the saints will be immediately after the Rapture and during the great tribulation happening on Earth. After the (Bema Seat of) judgement of the saints, comes the marriage union of The Lamb with his bride (The saints). Bible says 'Abraham.... shall sit'. This is the Judgement of the saints. And there is no remembrance of their sins because they have overcome.

The final judgement of sinners comes after the MILLENIAL REIGN OF CHRIST. (1000 years of peace and bliss on Earth). Satan will be loosed from prison to deceive the world for a season (note: not the saints) and will gather them like the sand of sea. But they will be destroyed by fire, and Satan will be cast into the lake of fire. Then the judgement of sinners will begin. It's called 'THE WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT'. Hellfire will give up its inhabitants. And they will be judged according to their works and be cast in the Lake of fire. And hellfire itself shall be cast in the Lake of fire. This is known as 'The second Death'.

The current heaven and earth shall pass away/disappear. Then there shall be a New Heaven and a New Earth.This is where the righteous will dwell for all eternity with God and the Lamb.
Just read Maccabees 12:39-46. And satisfy your doubt! Though! It wasn't specifically mentioned, but it sure points at where people who die with the grace are kept for purification.

But let me say here if you don't know the laws of creation aright and live according to it when such as departed this earth life ge would be blind, deaf, even paralysed. SUMMARY of what I wrote:

A dead sinner goes to HELL fire and awaits the Final Judgement of God to be cast in THE LAKE OF FIRE.

The Righteous goes to Heaven. When the world comes to an absolute end, he will be ushered to THE NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH.

That is the Judgement.
Heaven and Hell are just stationaries where it's inhabitants wait for the final Judgement.
to my own personal belief,a dead person faces judgement instantly,there is nothing like judgement day or end time,even bible said a world without end,i don't believe in any of this because i am a neutral person, i just have faith of doing good and good will follow you and vice versa. after all , nobody wey don die don come back come tell us how that side be.

After death, every human cease to exist. FACT
you can go do some research through this bible verses;
Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10.
Acts 7:60; 13:36.
Psalm 146:4.
Genesis 3:19.
After Adam die, Adam did not exist. Therefore, when Jehovah said that Adam would return to the dust, He meant that Adam would return to a state of nonexistence. Adam would be as lifeless as the dust from which he was made.

No be me talk am o, but it all came from the bible!

What a scary thing to think of, but everybody gat die, even that bae with fine face, nice curve and round big boobs, chai, imagine... angry

I have been so confused for a while now about what happens to our souls after death...many people believe after death comes judgement.. meaning,those who are dead now are either in heaven or hell or purgatory. in reference to the scripture''its appointed unto man to die after that comes judgment''..so now the question is,why is Jesus coming on the last day to judge the living and the dead since we have already been judged immediately after death..is the judgment twice?. where are the souls that have died now?pls share ur suggestion

It's simple. Romans 6:23 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God is a God of justice. He doesn't punish twice. When a sinner dies, he has paid for his sin. What is left to be judged is, is he worthy of been resurrected?

Remember Act 24:15 15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

For an unjust to be resurrected, he must have lived as an Obedient servant of God. This is where the judgement comes. If the he lived a bad life of disobedience, no hope for him.

As the the teaching of heaven, hell and pogatory..... If all the good go to heaven to rule with Christ and bad burns in hell.... Who is left on earth to be ruled? Can all good Nigerian be ministers?

God promised us everlasting life if we know him and his son Jesus Christ. We do his will. We exercise faith in the death of Jesus.

Some are going to heaven but not everybody. God has been selecting this few. The Bible said God will select them from the twelve tribes of Israel 12,000 from each tribe. Rev. 7:1-14.

What happens to each soul of a man when he dies can also be seen in the parable or explanation given by Christ the Lord in Luke 16:19-31. But there will collective judgment later on a day when the kingdom of God will be revealed in its fullness with all that have believed and when all who have not believed will be cast into everlasting destruction, these officially.
As one has well said that the primary thing is to ensure that you are saved by the grace of God through faith in Christ Jesus and that your own faith is genuine or true, for there so many of the church who are deceiving themselves t are mockers and hypocrites and are truly children of Satan but lied to be children of God, just as the great multitudes who truly left Egypt but perished in the wilderness, but thank God there is a faithful remnants who have believed and whose faith is genuine or true. And if your faith in God through Christ is genuine then continue to seek the good and acceptable will of God for yourself and do them and abound more and more in it as the Day is fast approaching and hold fast to the true faith you said have and not the wrong or hypocritical one, and also fellowship and serve God through Christ His Son with those who are calling and serving Him out of pure hearts or in true and spirit.

After death, you'll die and wait for the ressurection. After ressurection, you'll all be judged for a 1000years where you'll choose God or the devil. eternal life or eternal death/second death.

Why?

Those people who never knew about Jesus what will be their fate? By the normal rules they'll burn in hell fire forever but since God is merciful he'll give people a second chance at the ressurection. (Check the ressurection in Lazarus story, where Mary told Jesus about the ressurection. Jesus didn't say it's wrong idea.)

No one dies and goes to hell immediately. Hell is not a torture place. It is a permanent destruction device (second death = the person is no more spiritualy)

How I know? Study your Bible on the topic "death, resurrection and hell"

Things to ponder on. Sheol/Hades is the abode of the dead. Gehenna is the destination of the wicked - the real hell fire, where they face second death/total destruction.

Shalom

Within the Christian faith, there is a significant amount of confusion regarding what happens after death. Some hold that after death, everyone “sleeps” until the final judgment, after which everyone will be sent to heaven or hell. Others believe that at the moment of death, people are instantly judged and sent to their eternal destinations. Still others claim that when people die, their souls/spirits are sent to a “temporary” heaven or hell, to await the final resurrection, the final judgment, and then the finality of their eternal destination. So, what exactly does the Bible say happens after death?

First, for the believer in Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that after death believers’ souls/spirits are taken to heaven, because their sins are forgiven by having received Christ as Savior (John 3:16, 18, 36). For believers, death is to be “away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). However, passages such as 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 describe believers being resurrected and given glorified bodies. If believers go to be with Christ immediately after death, what is the purpose of this resurrection? It seems that while the souls/spirits of believers go to be with Christ immediately after death, the physical body remains in the grave “sleeping.” At the resurrection of believers, the physical body is resurrected, glorified, and then reunited with the soul/spirit. This reunited and glorified body-soul-spirit will be the possession of believers for eternity in the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21-22).

Second, for those who do not receive Jesus Christ as Savior, death means everlasting punishment. However, similar to the destiny of believers, unbelievers also seem to be sent immediately to a temporary holding place, to await their final resurrection, judgment, and eternal destiny. Luke 16:22-23 describes a rich man being tormented immediately after death. Revelation 20:11-15 describes all the unbelieving dead being resurrected, judged at the great white throne, and then being cast into the lake of fire. Unbelievers, then, are not sent to hell (the lake of fire) immediately after death, but rather are in a temporary realm of judgment and condemnation. However, even though unbelievers are not instantly sent to the lake of fire, their immediate fate after death is not a pleasant one. The rich man cried out, “I am in agony in this fire” (Luke 16:24).

Therefore, after death, a person resides in a “temporary” heaven or hell. After this temporary realm, at the final resurrection, a person’s eternal destiny will not change. The precise “location” of that eternal destiny is what changes. Believers will ultimately be granted entrance into the new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21:1). Unbelievers will ultimately be sent to the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people—based entirely on whether or not they had trusted Jesus Christ alone for salvation (Matthew 25:46; John 3:36).

Stop talking rubbish about what you don't know. Purgatory exists, it's not even a separate place like you people imagine it. It's a state of grace for those who have been trying to live up to holliness but committed sin "unknowingly" as Catholics we believe that God is merciful and has the utermost power to give grace to whom so ever he pleases. Even the bible says that "our holiness are like filthy rags in his sight. Meaning we cannot be perfect. How did death entered into the world? Death came as a result of Adam and Eve sinned. Death was not part of Gods original purpose, so if Adam had not sinned, he and his wife would have still be alive today. (2) What happened to Adam after he died? The bible answer Genesis 3:19. ...for dust you were to dust you will returned. So when Adam died he returned to the same place he came from 'dust'. He was nowhere before he was created and he stopped existing at his death. The bible clearly tells us of the condition of the dead in Ecclesiastic 9:5-9.. The living knows they would die, but as for the dead they know nothing at all....

Everyone would appear before God and give a detailed explanation of how they spent their lives. God would then judge, based on His prescribed standards and clearly-stated commandments. HELL/ETERNAL PUNISHMENT OR HEAVEN/ETERNAL ENJOYMENT would then be the outcome. WE thank God we are still alive, we can still make the best choice of accepting Jesus' offer of salvation; righting our wrongs..... SEE YOU IN HEAVEN IN JESUS' NAME!

Let's use deductive analysis;

There are so far no geographical locations on this planet Earth called "heaven" or "hell". Where ever heaven is, is not physically on this planet. Therefore if Heaven is on Planet Earth, it has to be on a different dimension of our existence, it has to be on parallel Earth.

But there is a statement in the Christian Bible about Jesus asserting that "In his Father's house, there are many mansions". I assume there are no possibilities of having "houses" in a (one) mansion. So, to understand what Jesus meant by that wrongfully interpreted statement, I think its best to visit the archives where the Bible was interpreted from the early Sumerian texts and try to understand what Jesus actually said, and indeed if Jesus meant what he said or if it was just one of his very many parables. I can only deduce that Jesus meant that there are many 'residential places' in 'his father's place and may be extra hectars and acres of land for people like me, who prefer to design our homes, as I am not sure the thirst of residency in heaven may just be less than a Trump Tower that I intend to live in, if there is a possibility of heaven.

So far, I have traced human origin to a point I can conclude that we are hybrids of Homo Erectus and Alien/UFO/unearthly DNA beings. The conflict of our feeding habits, the diverse languages, the diverse tribes, the diverse races points to a fact, that although we are a wonderful unified specie, we were hybridized by different entities of may be the same clan. Looks like some DNA were better sequenced than the others.

So, Jesus Christ may have been telling the early Humans 2.0 "since you are different, but are a product of my direct ancestor, I will take you along with me when I am heaving back to my home in heaven. How he intended to do that, I do not know.

Meanwhile, Since the alien beings sequenced our DNA with theirs and have left us here after mining their gold, then we can only look up in the skies, looking towards the direction of planet X, aka Nibiru, expecting the aliens whose DNA is part of our pool to come back and take us along with them to the Streets of Heaven paved with Gold.

How did we come up with the ideation that the streets of heaven are paved with Gold and Silvers and precious stones ? Because, that is all that the Gods did when they arrived here. They mined Gold and other precious stones. Using laser technology produced by focusing the sun beam through shafts to the Ark of Covenant which occupied the peak of the pyramids. The laser beam produced by the Hydrogen laser, a product of Radiative close-coupling equations and quantum-defect parametrization. Study the use of CaCO3, steam and pressure to produce hydrogen lazer. And that is how lazer is used to not only levitation large objects to deep space but teleportation to different locations in the globe.

In conclusion, there is no heaven out there, but I think Hell is Nigeria.

May God Bless God.

its funny you still remember this thread after such a long while...

as much as i would've loved to argue about this, I'm sorry but my view on hell has changed... this doesn't mean i support your eternal burning doctrine... its still seems excessively over the line... plus.... I've not found any proof of your alleged claim of an eternal hell outside the bible..

all i can say is that whatever happens after we die, we don't know for sure...

there are
*annihilation supporting scriptures
* supposed eternal torment scriptures
* views of reincarnation
* view of ceasing to exist
* purgatory
* majority near death experiences don't seem to support your view also

i know you'll say the rest are false... because you choose not to believe in them.. what of the Jewish hell? there are dozens of views of the afterlife.... and I'm not willing to draw a conclusion from a book that mistranslated a few things(no offence intended)... my point is... we don't know for sure what happens after death.... no one has the monopoly of correct afterlife... I'm still a Christian but i don't kill myself over what ever happens after i step 6 foot into the grave... no one knows for sure... we just believe... believing is not knowing... i thank God for the nairalanders that opened my eyes ... here is my comment in a similar thread

Wilgrea7:

grin grin

did you read my post? if i were to start bringing forth biblical evidence, it would still amount to the same thing as my former thread.. I'm not afraid of the afterlife... whether i meet reincarnation or wait till resurrection for annihilation or eternal torment, i really couldn't care less.. as far as I'm concerned, whatever the outcome is and whatever happens after death, I'll just have to wait to find out... besides bro... there's no need giving myself tension cuz of one possible outcome of the afterlife out of tons of them.. all of which lack concrete evidence outside their respective books.. i have a lot more real or physical problems to solve.. there are hungry people and people probably dying of starvation this very moment.. there are people with different situations that need a lot of help.. some who consider seeing another day a miracle... after what mrsixsense told me on the other thread, I've decided to solve the physical problems around me i know that i can solve... I'll deal with the afterlife when i get there

whatever my fate is.... no one knows... only God

My brother, According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, Purgatory is “a place or condition of temporal punishment for those who, departing this life in God's grace, are not entirely free from venial faults, or have not fully paid the satisfaction due to their transgressions.” To summarize, in Catholic theology Purgatory is a place that a Christian’s soul goes to after death to be cleansed of the sins that had not been fully satisfied during life. Is this doctrine of Purgatory in agreement with the Bible? Absolutely not!

Jesus died to pay the penalty for all of our sins (Romans 5:cool. Isaiah 53:5 declares, “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.” Jesus suffered for our sins so that we could be delivered from suffering. To say that we must also suffer for our sins is to say that Jesus’ suffering was insufficient. To say that we must atone for our sins by cleansing in Purgatory is to deny the sufficiency of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus (1 John 2:2). The idea that we have to suffer for our sins after death is contrary to everything the Bible says about salvation.

The primary Scriptural passage Catholics point to for evidence of Purgatory is 1 Corinthians 3:15, which says, “If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.” The passage (1 Corinthians 3:12-15) is using an illustration of things going through fire as a description of believers’ works being judged. If our works are of good quality “gold, sliver, costly stones,” they will pass through the fire unharmed, and we will be rewarded for them. If our works are of poor quality “wood, hay, and straw,” they will be consumed by the fire, and there will be no reward. The passage does not say that believers pass through the fire, but rather that a believer’s works pass through the fire. 1 Corinthians 3:15 refers to the believer “escaping through the flames,” not “being cleansed by the flames.”

Purgatory, like many other Catholic dogmas, is based on a misunderstanding of the nature of Christ’s sacrifice. Catholics view the Mass / Eucharist as a re-presentation of Christ’s sacrifice because they fail to understand that Jesus’ once-for-all sacrifice was absolutely and perfectly sufficient (Hebrews 7:27). Catholics view meritorious works as contributing to salvation due to a failure to recognize that Jesus’ sacrificial payment has no need of additional “contribution” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Similarly, Purgatory is understood by Catholics as a place of cleansing in preparation for heaven because they do not recognize that because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we are already cleansed, declared righteous, forgiven, redeemed, reconciled, and sanctified.

The very idea of Purgatory and the doctrines that are often attached to it (prayer for the dead, indulgences, meritorious works on behalf of the dead, etc.) all fail to recognize that Jesus’ death was sufficient to pay the penalty for ALL of our sins. Jesus, who was God incarnate (John 1:1,14), paid an infinite price for our sin. Jesus died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3). Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 2:2). To limit Jesus’ sacrifice to atoning for original sin, or sins committed before salvation, is an attack on the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. If we must in any sense pay for, atone for, or suffer because of our sins – that indicates Jesus’ death was not a perfect, complete, and sufficient sacrifice.

For believers, after death is to be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). Notice that this does not say "away from the body, in Purgatory with the cleansing fire." No, because of the perfection, completion, and sufficiency of Jesus' sacrifice, we are immediately in the Lord's presence after death, fully cleansed, free from sin, glorified, perfected, and ultimately sanctified.

However let me state here that as Catholics it is preached that if you commit any sin with the intention of going to purgatory then you are going to hell.

Jesus died to pay the penalty for all of our sins (Romans 5: 8 ).

This doesn't make any sense. If you Judged to hellfire, then that same Judgement would send you to the lake of fire. So there is no need of 2 judgements. Whatever made you to go hell in the first judgement would also take you to hell in the 2nd judgement.
