The economics of oil dominate the politics in the world.

Russia is a major exporter of oil to Europe. While, Saudi wishes to sell oil to Europe, competing with Russia. Saudi, is an ally of the US and the European NATO allies. If Saudi starts to supply oil to Europe, it will completely wipe Russia off the world map, since its economy is based on petro dollars.

Syria stands in between Saudi and the Europe. If Saudi wishes to build an oil pipeline to Europe, it must pass through Syria.

The Syrian government, in Bashal Al-Assad has been installed by Russia, and is strong ally of Russia. As long as Assad stands, Russia will be the dominant oil supplier to Europe.

While, the US and its allies, have attempted to destabilize the region, by arming and training rebel groups in the nation. It is also alleged, that the ISIS is also a creation of the US, much like the Taliban.

The US and its allies wish to intervene and install a puppet government that will allow Saudi to pass its oil pipeline through Syria, benefiting the US, Europe and the Saudi government.

It is why the extremism in the middle east has been so dominant, well funded and well covered in the world news. It is not by accident that there was a world intervention in Iraq.

As the prices of oil drop, the participants are likely to lose the will of investing more resources in the middle east. The extremism and the instability will rise, when the world powers pull out of the middle east, before it fizzes out.
