The organisers of the Youth Tourism Connect Essay Competition(YTC), Desigo Tourism Development Limited have restated its commitment to ensure a genuine development in the tourism industry by inculcating its values into the younger generation.
According to the company’s CEO, Abigail Olagbaye, the competition is designed to bring to the fore the nation’s abundant tourism resources and ensure connectivity between the industry and the Nigerian youths.
“The main objective of the essay competition is to stimulate Nigerian youths towards tourism, encourage their participation in every discourse that would guarantee tourism development and inculcate in them, values that will ensure its sustainability”. She stated.
The former beauty queen, who was Miss Tourism Nigeria 2005, was with the opinion that sustainability of any industry depends on the younger generation.
“Apparently a nation cannot grow beyond its younger generation; likewise no genuine development can take place in any sector of the national economic without adequately and resourcefully involving its youths.” She declared.
Meanwhile, registration for participation and submission of essays that will open on Monday 31st October will now run concurrently till Friday, December 9th 2016. Interested youths are urged to visit designated site to register their interest of participation on or before the date free of charge.
The national essay competition which is initiated under the Youth Tourism Connect has exciting prizes that will connect the winners to tourist destinations. These include, Local travel + (6 months) Internet enabled IPad + 200,000, Local Travel + (3 months) Internet enabled IPad + 100,000 and Local Travel + (1 month) Internet enabled Ipad + 50,000 for first, second and third winner respectively in junior categories.
In the senior categories, first winner will be entitled to, Local travel + (6 months) Internet enabled IPad + 500,000, while the second and third winner will have Local Travel + (3 months) Internet enabled IPad + 100,000 and Local Travel + (1 month) Internet enabled Ipad + 50,000 respectively.
