The growing rate of violence against women in the society is becoming unbearable. Virtually no week passes without a national daily reporting cases of violence against women. Even when it abounds in quantum, we only get to hear of few.

Many young girls have become victims of rape and subjects of sex slave. Most of which are scared to go public with such cases of assault.

This formed the premise of the seminar organized by the Stellawhyte foundation (SWF), a Non Governmental Organization whose preoccupation is sensitization of the public on the ills of violence against women and rape.

According to the leader of the foundation, Miss Okhueleigbe Ebosetale popularly known as Stella whyte who is also the  an ambassador to Afriwomen Magazine, Senegal and former Miss ITV, the foundation is out to curb the excesses of violence against the feminine gender as well as the prevalence of rape in the country through proper sensitization and provision of succour to victims of assault. Stellawhyte disclosed that her passion to salvage the female folk from the scourges of home violence and rape necessitated her establishing the foundation.

Stellawhyte believes that this scourge can be nipped in the bud through collective responsibility. She urged the society join her foundation in standing up against violence of all sorts against the female folks.

The foundation visited secondary schools in Benin, Edo state which include sensitizing the students on the need to shun violence against the female folks and rape,  not only that urging them to spread the campaign to their various homes.

The students expressed satisfaction on organization of the seminar, promising to stand against violence of any sort against women and rape. The also promised to take up the campaign to their various localities.
