Hi everyone,

I noticed that my corolla sports 2011 is not as fast as it used to be, the only error I have there is p0420 which has always been there since I bought the car, also the engine runs fine when idling but just that when accelerating it's not so fast , I have had my mechanic clean the injectors,cleaned the air-filter and its same.. kindly advise with ideas on what could be wrong

Check for restricted exhaust .If you need to confirm this without even tocuhing your exhaust ,call autologic @ 08061166316 to check for u with their state of the art exhaust diagnostics tools.

Ah bro so sowie abt datz,had same ish wit my corolla 06 model sport too,scanned and got same code,i did evrytin u talked abt but go to undstnd it was my catalyc converter( indomie) was very bad.infact it was blocked I nearly sold d car,cos I was so angry dat my car was not performing on the road lik a corolla.

A list of things can trigger that code. ranging from

- Improper ignition timing
- Catalytic converter clogging
- Fuel injector leaks
- Intake air leaks
- Clogged air filter
- Fuel injectors may be faulty
- Spark plugs may be faulty

Don't ignore the air filter. But like honmusa and mayor said, start from the exhaust. You might need replacing the cat or O2 sensor in the end.

you drove your car for a for so long with the check light on. The engine has been running very rich, it is possible the catalyst is now blocked. It could be other things like fuel delivery.

your engine (if v6 is over 700k) better park it and have it solved if the catalyst is the problem, iv seen grown men cry when they see the bill of repairs.

Not like I have not tried to do something about the catalyst before actually, I discovered that it had been removed when I bought the car and I bought another one like three months ago just that after fixing the catalyst that my mechanic bought from ladipo the error was still there, though this issue of slow acceleration just started like a week ago

Take that car to a competent engineer to have that catalyst checked. Am having to think that the cat has been compromised. Perhaps some pieces of wire guaze has been put in or foam. Have seen cases like this where large quantity of foam was put in to make sound look cool which in the end was stressing the engine and making car stall. Make sure you are there when the cat is taken out. When you look through you should be able to see the other end via a small hole and make sure the position is stil intact.

the original error was your catalyst. Based on your write up, you need to replace mechanics the current one you have does not know what he is doing.

My car had similar issue. "Wasn't accelerating fast" then I took it to ladipo, but those guys told me the car's brain box is faulty.. I was like no. That can't be possible. I was suspecting gearbox and other assumptions.

To cut long story short, it was just the fuel pump. So, don't ignore the fuel pump, it might be weak.

You need to see how the car is back at its best. My car is v6.

pathetic .Am very sure your catalytic converter has been removed or compromised. That is why kazeem went to put a wire guaze so as to make sound of the car cool

Thanks All.. I have been able to fix my car, the catalyst blocked the exhaust system .. My Kazeem bought a below standard catalyst initially.

car is breathing well now.
