The government of Cameroon has launched a campaign to highlight the ills of social media and need for social regulation in other to preserve the image of Cameroon. It comes after the several citizens has been taking to social media platforms to misinterprets and deform facts among others over certain issues revolving in Cameroon.

Last month after a deadly train derailed at Yaounde living at least 80 people dead with 600 injured, social media users in Cameroon criticized President Paul Biya for what they presumed as his unconcerned attitude towards the tragic accident after he didn’t return immediately from Switzerland where he had gone for a meeting.

After a parliament meeting was held on Monday, the Cameroon government in a statement confirmed that the country is committed to combat social media.

‘The State of Cameroon is resolutely committed to the fight against social media so as to preserve the image of the country. Social media is increasingly becoming a rallying point for those who want a change at the helm of the state.

Bad leaders like Buhari all over Africa.

When will these empty brain African leaders lead out something positive for other western world to emulate?

This is human right abuse Loading.

I pray Cameroonians resist it to a standstill.

Other African leaders will just on the side, hoping to enforce it in their countries if Cameroon succeds.

APC and the PMB led government will soon follow suit, especially as the 2019 elections draw nearer.
Even on Nairaland if you criticise the government too much,u get a lengthy ban or get attacked by political sycophants.
while if you speak against the government openly or go against them by doing what is right, they send the DSS and EFCC after you.
This is the first sign of a undemocratic tyrant who wants to enslave his people.e.g North Korea.
Africa will never develop with this kind of leaders.
If our leaders do well, there will be no criticism or media attacks.

True, but Buhari didn't co-preside over a Senate that tried ti do the same, it was presided over by Saraki and Ekweremadu...Did you forget their names?
