Someone Said: "Religion destroys cognitive thinking and replaces it with blind trust in lies intended only to control people. If mankind is to avoid untimely extinction, it has to mature past being willfully ignorant. That, my friends, is a cause worth fighting for on any front you can.”

Ray Answers: You sound like some doom's day prophet, playing on people's fears. You have a concern that humanity will become extinct? What about evolution? It will fix everything. Relax. It did it without you once, and it can do it without you, once again.

Dave Cargo said: "Planned Parenthood is actually a wonderful resource center that offers more than just abortions. I assume you all know that by reading up on its history and purpose."

Ray Answers: Adolf Hitler restored German dignity, provided jobs for the unemployed, gave us the wonderful Volkswagen, and the autobahn. He didn't just kill Jews.

No doubt atheists will say that Hitler was a Christian. See my book, Hitler, God, and the Bible for his beliefs and for his contempt for Christianity.

Someone Said: “Keep up the good work, Ray! I myself can't thank you for being the reason for my de-conversion, but I'm sure there is plenty out there who can."

Ray Answers: My life has been devoted to exposing the hypocrites in the Church, and, with the help of God, seeing them awakened to their delusional state. But there are still plenty of more false converts faking it and deceiving themselves. Let's hope they admit that they don't know the Lord, and repent and trust the Savior, before Judgment Day.

Words of Comfort: The chicken or the egg?

Dumb Question: “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” The chicken. God made the fowls of the air first, then they brought forth after their own kind by laying eggs. See Genesis 1:20.

Someone Said: "I would start with Origin of Species and read the 1000+ books written on the topic since then. How many books prove God? Oh right, one."

Ray Answers: You will read another thousand and not find proof for evolution. The whole belief rests on faith. I read every page of Origin of Species and it was drier than a ten year-old peanut butter sandwich. The Bible doesn't prove God. It doesn't need to. We know that God exists because of the incredible order of Nature and our God-given conscience. It is simply the Instruction Book for those who know Him.

"Ray Comfort, how do you witness to someone who does not care about breaking the laws of God and does not care that he is going to hell simply because he does not believe? Should we give them evidence of fulfilled prophecies to wake their deadened mind when they ignore the Law?" Brennan O'Connell

Tell him to try his "If I don't believe in it, it doesn't exist" with the sun. Whether we believe or don't believe is irrelevant to its existence. What matters is reality. And what we believe or don't believe about God (or about Hell) is irrelevant to reality.

It's not his dead mind that needs awakening (the “carnal mind” is his problem--see Romans 8:7). It's his seared conscience that needs to be stirred, and the way to do that is to do what both Jesus and the Apostle Paul did, expound the moral Law.

A wise man once said "Law without consequence is nothing but good advice." To preach the moral Law (the Ten Commandments) without the threat of future punishment is to defuse it of its power. It is to fire an empty cannon.

You need to open the Law as Paul did in Romans 2, and preach future punishment by the Law. Show him that he's up the River Niagara without a paddle. Don't worry about his visible reaction. That's between him and God. Your business is simply to faithfully plant the seed of the word of God, and that is never in vain (see 1 Corinthians 15:58).

A skeptic asked: "Why does God tell people to own slaves?"

Ray answered: If a Hebrew was in debt he could work off that debt by being a "bond-servant" or "slave." We put negative connotations on the word "slave" because Americans kidnapped Africans (God prescribed the death sentence for kidnapping), sold them as bond-servants and treated them with great cruelty.

A Skeptic Said: “If there was an omnipotent Supreme Being, why would He use such a fallible device of communication--a book written by men, selected by men? Why not just communicate directly?”

Ray Answers: God did communicate directly with human beings. When He gave the Ten Commandments, the nation of Israel was so fearful that they thought they would die. He has chosen to give us His written Word telling us how to find everlasting life, and we are to simply do what it says.

A skeptic asked: "God told Abraham to sacrifice his son to prove his love."

Ray answered: God told Abraham to "offer" Isaac, and when he was about to kill him, God stopped him (see Genesis 22). This is a Bible "type"-- of God sending His "only-begotten Son" to suffer for the sin of the world. Any dirt we try and throw at God will always come back down on us, because He is without sin.

Atheist George Carlin (who passed into eternity in 2008) said, "But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is...wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption... Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed."

When an atheist rejects Genesis 1 (about creation), he automatically rejects Genesis 3 (about the "Fall" of mankind). God created all things perfect, but when Adam sinned against God, it brought God's curse on all of creation. Thus, disease, suffering, pain, and death are ultimately the fault of man, not God. Reject that explanation and you end up with a philosophy similar to George Carlin. The sufferings of this world shouldn't be used as an excuse to reject the Scriptures, but should be seen as very real evidence that what the Bible says is true.

“How can you justify God killing everyone in a flood?”

God doesn’t have to justify Himself to anybody, because He is God.

Everyone will die, because the Judge of the Universe has proclaimed our death sentence. We are the ones who need justification, not God, and we can be justified through repentance and faith in Jesus because of what He did on the cross.

In speaking of the numbers of “gods” that exist, Stephen Michael linked to a site and said, "It may take you quite some time. I will understand if it takes you weeks to get through them all, and even this is an incomplete list." In other words—the facetious question is implied, “Which is the right ‘god’”?

Some tend to forget the First of the Ten Commandments: “You shall have no other gods before Me." There are millions of gods (Hinduism has 450 million). Man is forever making up his own image of what he believes God is like. It’s called “idolatry,” and the reason it’s attractive is that a false god doesn’t have a moral dictate. The Bible says that idols are dumb and so are those who create them. There is only one Creator, and He's the One we must face on Judgment Day. We will either face Him in mercy (trusting in Jesus) or in wrath (dying in our sins).

A skeptic asks: “In the Tenth Commandment, why are wives listed with things like houses, oxen, and donkeys, which are property?”

You seem to have Christianity confused with other religions, such as Hinduism, that treat wives as mere property. The Tenth Commandment prohibits coveting (covetousness is an unlawful desire), and lists some of the items we are not to lust after. I’m sure you would agree that men tend to lust after women. So, women are included in the list. The association with other things we covet has nothing to do with their worth.

Christianity treats women with the utmost respect.

“There is no proof that God exists.”

Atheists believe the scientific impossibility that nothing created everything. That is the automatic default when someone believes that there was no initial Cause.

They have only one alternative, and that is to redefine the word “nothing” to be something. Some do that, confirming the accuracy of Scripture when it says: “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.”

Here are a stack of well-known atheists who believe that nothing created everything:

Someone asked “Can someone please point me to the verse that says the earth is flat?”

The now banned atheist John Milk then replied: "It calls Earth a circle. Circles are flat." Actually, circles are round. Atheists go in circles with this argument. By saying that they are in "circles" I am meaning that they go round and round...in a circle. Round. When the Bible says "He that sits on the circle of the earth" (Isaiah 40:22) it means that the earth is round...like a round circle. Like the wheel on a bike. Round. But this won't convince a fundamentalist atheist because he loves his sins and he’s not interested in truth. He seeks excuses to try and justify his sinful worldview. If he was truly seeking truth he would simply repent, trust in Jesus and come to know God. Of course that would mean no more porn, fornication, blasphemy, etc. but it would also mean that he finds everlasting life. So if any atheists are reading this, stop going in circles (round and round—like a circle). Get right with God and get on the straight and narrow path that leads to life.

“I lack belief in gods.”

Atheist, Prof. PZ Myers said,

“Boy, I really do hate these guys. You've got a discussion going, talking about why you’re an atheist, or what atheism should mean to the community, or some such topic that is dealing with our ideas and society, and some smug $@!#* comes along and announces that ‘Atheism means you lack a belief in gods. Nothing more. Quit trying to add meaning to the term.’

"As if atheism can only be some platonic ideal floating in virtual space with no connections to anything else; as if atheists are people who have attained a Zen-like ideal, their minds a void, containing nothing but atheism, which itself is nothing. (They are) $@!#*s.”

When I met PZ a few years ago, I told him how I appreciate his courage in saying things like this. The atheist community attacked him like a swarm of angry bees, because he was so outspoken about their silliness.

Jenny Bostwick Hill said, “I would like to know your view on the Sabbath. Did the Catholic church change the calendar and Saturday should be the Sabbath instead of Sunday? Also, should we be keeping the Sabbath? Thanks Ray! God bless!”

I rarely talk about this issue, and when I do it’s not to argue with Sabbath-keepers. It’s to make sure Christians don’t get tangled up in their deception and in the bondage of legalism. Those who insist that others (besides themselves) should keep the Jewish Sabbath cannot point to even one verse in the New Testament where Christians are commanded to keep the Sabbath. If our salvation depended on resting on a certain day, then you would think that God would have taken the time to tell us, “Remember to keep the Sabbath holy.” But it’s not there, and any reference to it is negative—saying not to let any man tell you what day to keep, etc. I have found that Sabbath-keepers rarely plead with the unsaved to get right with God. Instead, they try and lay the Law on the backs of Christians to try and take away the liberty they have in Christ and steal their joy. So I gently ban them. This is because scripture tells me to avoid strivings about the Law.

What about the appendix? It’s a left-over from evolution.

The appendix is said to be vestigial. But it’s not. Duke University said: “Appendix Isn't Useless at All: It's a Safe House for Bacteria, By Duke Medicine News and Communications. Words of Comfort: “It’s only natural that we sin.”

This sinful world will often try to justify themselves when confronted with their sinfulness, by saying, “It’s only natural that we sin.” They’re right—sin does come naturally to us. We naturally lie, steal, lust, etc. The lifestyles of the ungodly can be clearly seen in soap operas, movies, talk shows, and tabloids. However, because it’s natural doesn’t make it right. Until we come to Jesus Christ, “by nature” we are children of wrath (see Ephesians 2:3).Photo: [Source] http://www.onthebox.us/…/words-of-comfort-its-only-natural-…

"Considering having someone killed because another person didn't do something right, seems a bit ridiculous."

God holds us personally responsible for our own actions.

If you fall off a cliff, gravity will kill you. If you place your finger in a live light socket, electricity will kill you. These are the natural consequences that God has created for violators.

You are violating God's moral Law at the moment, but you feel secure because you don't see the full consequences. But they will eventually come.

“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death” (2 Corinthians 7:10).

This is a key verse when it comes to our salvation. The erroneous modern message has been “Just give your heart to Jesus, it’s that easy,” while the biblical gospel says the opposite. Jesus warned us to “strive” to enter the strait gate.

The Greek word used for strive is “agonizomai” from which we derive the word “agonize.” It’s not easy to be born again. Like child-birth for baby and mother, it’s a difficult process of “mourning” and “heaviness.”

In addressing the unsaved, the Bible says, “Cleanse your hands you sinners. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.” Adulterous King David’s penetrant prayer of Psalm 51 wasn’t born out of a superficial sorrow.

On careful reflection of my own conversion, I have looked back and concluded that although I didn’t weep in sorrow for my many transgressions, I did show the genuineness of my mourning by turning from sin, something called “fruit of repentance.”

The Scriptures admonish us to make sure we are genuinely saved. Have you done that, or are you a stranger to biblical repentance? Of all the things in life of which we should be sure, it should be our eternal salvation.

I know that there are a lot of dog-lovers here. I’m one. Big time. Someone sent me an interesting email today that spoke about a man who asked a hotel-owner if he could bring his well-behaved dog to the hotel. The owner replied:

“Sir. I've been operating this hotel for many years. In all that time, I've never had a dog steal towels, bedclothes, silverware or steal pictures off the walls or use them as a coloring book. I've never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly. And I've never had a dog run out on a hotel bill. Yes, indeed, your dog is welcome at my hotel. And, if your dog will vouch for you, you're welcome to stay here, too."

Hell Illogical?

"Hell Its existence is illogical."- Glyn A.

Actually, it's the exact opposite. The most common reasoning behind the thought that Hell could not be a reality is, "If God is good, how could Hell possibly exist?" But here are three thoughts to logically bring us to the conclusion that such a thought is senseless.

1. We know that the Creator exists because it is scientifically impossible for nature to have made itself. Everything made has a maker. That is logic a child can understand.
2. The word "conscience" means "with knowledge." We are all born with knowledge that God requires moral accountability because of the existence of a personal, universal, God-given and society-shaped conscience.
3. If a judge is good, he must see to it that justice is done. If he turns a blind eye to injustice, he's corrupt and should be brought to justice himself.

Now carefully consider these facts. In just one recent ten-year period in the U.S., 200,000 people were viciously murdered. Approximately 100,000 of those murderers were never brought to justice. That means that 100,000 human beings had their throats cut, were shot in the heart or head, poisoned, or strangled to death. Think of all the millions of injustices--all the murders, rapes, tortures, etc.--that have taken place throughout history, and you will be forced to come to a logical conclusion. If God is good, how could Hell not exist?
