Botulinum Toxin is a Neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This toxin blocks the neuromuscular junction by preventing the release of acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter in the neuromuscular junction and some part of the nervous system) from the axon terminal into the neuromuscular junction. Typical manifestations include strabismus
and focal dystonias, hemifacial spasm, various spastic movement disorders, headaches, hypersalivation, hyperhidrosis, and some chronic conditions that respond partially to only medical treatment.
