Hello Sheffyutd.

Your name has been invoked in the car section by car guru Nurey, when I asked about shipping a containerized car from Lagos to San Pedro Harbor, Los Angeles, California.

Can this shipment actually be done in a reasonable time frame, or would the shipment wind up getting delayed along the way ?

If it is possible to ship from Lagos to Los Angeles, how much in total would it cost to ship a car sealed in a container between those two ports ?

Have you personally handled any shipping of cars in containers, from Lagos to the USA, either East Coast or West Coast ?

If it is indeed possible to ship a containerized car from Lagos to Los Angeles, how high is the risk of theft or parts pilfering, along the way ?

Any details you can offer would be enormously appreciated.

The only delay is pre-shipment processes, it takes averagely same time as import cargo.

For shipping, I don't give a figure until a shipping line is chosen, preferably nominated by the shipper, we will negotiate the rate and conclude. Other cost depends on existing customs paper on the vehicle, handling required (towing, forklift . . .), . . .

No sir, commodities. Vehicle is not different; easier to do.

I just now spotted this kind response you have provided. Your last point refers to a very strange law indeed, because it implies that one cannot send a car outside Nigeria with the intention of selling it, or driving it, outside Nigeria, meaning that such a vehicle CANNOT be kept permanently outside Nigeria. I can see now that for me, there is effectively no means of shipping a car out of Nigeria, at least with the current laws on the books in Nigeria.

Once again I thank you very much for this detailed reply. Your help and deep knowledge on this subject is greatly appreciated.
