Not too long ago one of the members here started a post in quest for new ideas on how we can use this forum to influence political action in Abuja and all across the country. Though nothing concrete in proposal was drawn out of that, nonetheless it was a good start.

We need to congregate our voices against a common problem. The problem of political idiocracy in Nigeria. The issues that tear us apart at the community level is fed downward from bad and incompetency leadership on top. To change that and bring about a new horizon in our national conscience we at the community level need to feed upward to the leadership our demands for change. The demand carries with it a consequential outcome for the politician's career.

Lets start a political action committee from here. Any thoughts?

@Negro_Ntns

I think you have a good point, although it is not clear to me that a political action committee formed on the basis of an internet forum would be workable.

In keeping with the nature of the forum one idea might be to create a separate NL child-board titled "Nigeria Solutions" or something similar where topics are selected by moderator(s) (who would also receive suggestions from the NL community at large). The moderator(s) would have the power to remove irrelevant posts, mainly related to name calling and cyber-tribal war or completely off-topic posts that constantly derail serious discussion.

That child board would likely be boring for most, but would distill serious issues and possible solutions from our normal constant charter. Most topics would actually arise out of discussions in the more general boards, with the requirement that they address an issue of national importance.

If this sounds like a useful first step we could approach NL owners for the creation of such a board.

Thanks.

You might have to set up an independent website dedicated to this cause, instead of relying on NL.
There will be problems if NL users have to drop any secrecy sorrounding their identities to press home their points (no one will take the committee seriously otherwise).

This point takes on more importnace, especially these days when losers with messages in synch Ibori's sub-Nigerians in the diaspora message are bold enough to make death threats against fellow forum users https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-353466.32.html#msg4968114

If you had come two years ago when the political forum was less of a gatherin of pawns you might have had a strong case, but there are too many clowns here to make meanin of what you propose

Bibi,

You are correct and Im not sure its too late to do. Nothing is too bad to fix. . .sometimes we just need to match the problem to the appropriate resource. Naija and Beaf are with you on the need to safegueard traffic, anonymity, content and channell. It might not immediately appear so but the moderators and the owner read board posts. . . its a worthy initiative but then its their discretion to assess the resources and deploy the matching solutions for those concerns.

Direct action from the people back to the rulers and sharing with them how their policies impact us is a good way to regain the democratic process and start to clean up Aso Rock and other State Capitals. People have given Fashola lots of credits for what he is doing. . . but that's what he was elected to do. We now need to feedback to the others that they are not doing what they were elected to do and there are people waiting in the wings to replace them and get it done. . . .people endorsed by the Nairaland community!
