A minister can't just wake up and make laws for a big sector like Education and expect immediate implementations. He should tackle problems and not create more.

Comments here shows our level of literacy (o yes members).

Lame....... Compare the rules guiding the establishment of the institutions before concluding

Michael Okpara university of agriculture umudike, umuahua, is guilty of this, offering courses like, accountancy, business administration and management, library and information science, bank fin, etc. And this makes the agricultural course ridiculed rather than cherished.

What is the fate of students already studying these courses? This question needs to be answered. Also, I don't find it funny that punch/minister of education/or who have you used 'were' instead of 'where' in the writeup.

FYI there is a course like that and it practised even in the US
Re: FG Bans Unauthorised Courses In Specialised Universities by lordBintus(m): 9:15am On Jan 09, 2017
In my own view to this there is nothing bad having this course in this schools NAME is just like an identity MIT offers language courses so far they have the capability to drive the ideology of those course no wahala BUT it becomes illogical when courses like Accounting Technology is given to a science student (LAUTECH) unlike FUTA that allows the owner(COMMERCE STUDENTS) to study the course for 4years.SO those are the aspect to look into not scraping it totally
Re: FG Bans Unauthorised Courses In Specialised Universities by Jacko1(m): 9:18am On Jan 09, 2017

I don't see any reason why the Federal government should scrap Management courses especially from Universities of Agriculture. No agricultural venture can move forward/ progress without these courses- Accounting, business management, Economics, etc. Also, if the government had been performing her duty by giving these universities what they need (subventions) and at the right time, these universities wouldn't have diverted to these courses. In addition, the Ministry of Education gave them the go- ahead to do these course if the have the capacity, few years back( about 5 years ago)
If our government are ignorant of all these and other such knowledge, they should ask questions from the professionals in the education sector before coming up with policies that will kill our Education industry, and our coming students who will gain admission into these courses later.
Those involved in all these policies should be careful before acting.
My own take.

Isn't that a problem he is tackling?...and because MIT is offering these off courses we should allow it?...it is ok? How can we move forward if universities become Jacks of all trades? We are our biggest problem.

Sincerely this is a good move. Can't figure out how my Alma Mater, LAUTECH smuggled Accounting Technology to the JAMB brochure. This is the only policy the Education minister has gotten right since he assumed office
