|10 Tips To Prevent A Pot Hole Disaster by Donald3d(m): 1:27pm On Jan 11, 2017|
Pot holes vary in sizes ,but no matter how small they can be lethal and life threatening .
Today I would be giving you 10 tips on how to prevent a disaster .Lets Go !
Before you embark on any journey always make sure your tires are properly inflated and have the right amount of pressure .
Always keep a safe distance from the car in front of you especially Danfo buses, this would give you some time to observe if there is any pot hole ahead, thereby giving you enough time to avoid it.
Always drive at a safe speed ,its easier to maneuver and avoid pot holes when you are not over-speeding .In the event when you can’t avoid the effect wont be lethal if you drive at a safe speed.
Seriously stay focused on driving already , that call and email can wait.
Be extra careful when driving into water filled pot holes .The water can hide the true depth of the hole.
Make sure your two hands are on the steering wheel, most preferably at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock position. It helps give you are better grip and control in the event of a pot hole evasion or impact.
Do not swerve violently to avoid a pot hole ,especially when you are running away from the Men In Black .
When driving at night always make use of full head lights so you can see way ahead of you,and brace for impact or evasion.
If you have to evade a pot hole make sure no other vehicle is trying to overtake you, also make sure there are no oncoming vehicles .
Slow down if you must drive through a pothole but also make sure you get off the brakes just before encountering the pothole. This will reduce the load on the suspension and the impact force and also a possible mishap .
I hope you enjoyed this guys , don’t forget to comment ,and share.

Number 7 is extremely important...most Japanese cars can't handle an abrupt maneuver...esp on top speed..

That's not a pot hole by naija standard @ OP. I can do 180km/hr on that.
Nice tips, we need this orientation in Nigeria, before fine-fine motor pictures wey person no fit buy. I always enter pot holes with my side_ I don't know where I learnt that from, but it works for me.
I'm still serious about being a water-dispenser or lion in my next life...even tea cup sef.

No be me and you go sidon in the same car if you're the driver o. Shuo!
I enter pot holes with my side too. I feel more at ease doing that.
My dad and pot holes are best friends. It's like he aims for them sef. That's how we ended up with a flat tyre in Benin, on our way to the East. People were dodging pot holes, my guy was happily entering them.

MsDelilah:Lol. Na joke o.
I won't even stay in a car moving that fast. One day we were going somewhere (inter state). My hubby was driving really fast, I started shouting that I want to come down... I was crying sef. He cleared off the road, I jumped out and started walking backwards with him in pursuit.
Other motorists stopped _ It was a sight to behold. I was pregnant, so they thought I was in danger...haahahaha.
Everybody started begging me to enter, I was telling them "he wants to kill me and my baby with speed"
The young man was confused. I am getting a whole lot laid back in driving, maybe old age.
Some people love entering potholes, a friend said he likes the effect. What effect? Maybe the 'noise, vibration and harshness'

Not sure if there's any way to avoid potholes in Nigeria especially, but of this I know, extreme care has to be taken while swerving at high speed to avoid said accursed pothole.
What works for me is following public transport when I can on unfamiliar roads (trust me those folks know the road very well) at a safe distance.

This is one reason other oncoming drivers violently crash into potholes and damage their vehicles and/or risk lives.
You shouldn't teach folks how to use High Beams on the road except its a lonely far stretch and no oncoming vehicles.
If you try driving with high beams you'd dazzle other oncoming road users which is regarded as a rude, dangerous uncourteous way of driving. This is one reason most Nigerians would fail a driving test abroad.

In addition to no 8,
Don't drive in Nigeria road at night except if it is extremely important.
A cab man who is used to the road's floppyness can take you to that club, hotel, or just anywhere.
Save your self the stress!
Nevertheless, who dosen't know there is a huge sweet feeling attached to mild pothole
The feeling is cool mehn!

you should never use a high beam on oncoming cars at night, it's an accident trap. Having a long stretch of road without oncoming cars is an exception tho. I've seen people drive around streets with high beams and it just makes me wanna slap some senses into them . I can't wait for adaptive headlight/high beams to be standard on all cars. Tho it's been around since the mid 1950s. It's just taking too long.
Potholes is a custom and a way of life in Nigeria (pun intended). With good tires and sharp shocks, you should be flying over most potholes(not crater types oo). In fact you risk more damage to your shocks on low speeds as the whole car weigh is immersed in an out of the pothole. If you travel well on Lagos - Ore road, you'll know what's up.
