In Rev. 2:6; we see Jesus commending the church in Ephesus that they hates the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which he also hate. Now there is no other verse in this scriptures that tells us what the Nicolaitans were or who are they were or what there doctrine were or what their deeds were, so, in the absence of any particular verse that teaches us what exactly they did we have to try and understands it from the meaning of the word Nicolaitan.

This is a Greek word, the new testament was first written in Greek and the word Nicolaitan is a combination of two Greek word Laity which means ordinary people while Niko means to conquer and the complete meaning is to conquer ordinary people, so we see that here in this church in the first century was a beginning of a certain evil seed of certain people in the church who wanted to dominate the others, a sort of special Priestly class who were going to be Priest in a special way in which other believers were not going to be Priest and there around 100AD we see the origin of this corrupt system which has brought a distinction between certain people as Priest and certain people as not Priest, certain people as Pastors and certain people as not Pastors, certain people as Reverend and certain people as not Reverend, certain people as pope and certain people as not pope, certain people as Prophet and certain people as not Prophet, it began there.

And The Lord said I hates the deeds of such people, they have a desire to dominate others which is something that God hates, they place themselves as a special mediatorial class, a special class of people who are mediator between Jesus Christ and the common people it is as though Jesus Christ is the mediator between God and men (1 Tim. 2:5) was not enough they want to add a second mediator in between.

We can see clearly that the Roman Catholics got this false teaching with Mary being a mediator between Jesus Christ and us but seriously, the Protestant and the Pentecostal churches have an equal false teaching when they have a Pastor who has to find God’s will for you, he is a sort of second mediator too sure that’s this Nicolaitans class of people who want to be a little above the others, they did not allowed the other people to come directly to Jesus Christ.

In a local church Jesus Christ want everyone to have a direct connection with him, he has given different gifts in the church to teach, to evangelized, to be prophet and all that but none of them must come between the individual believer and Christ that’s the thing which Jesus hates. When a man tries to come between another soul and Jesus Christ in anyway even making him dependent on their prophecy or anything Jesus hates it, and that desire to dominate others sometimes can be through money.

There are many western Christian organization that controls people with money, God is not enough, Jesus is not enough, you also need their money by depending on them or listening to what they say if you want to survive, Jesus hates that, we are never to dominate any other human being with our gift, with money or in any other way because Jesus has called every one of us to be bondservant and is there somebody who is very greater in the church that must be the bondservant of all.

We see in Rev.1:6 that Jesus Christ has made us to be kings on this earth, not physical kings ruling a physical kingdom but spiritual kings ruling over the lust and passions that are in our body, what a marvelous thing to be a king over anger, to be a king over lust, to be a king over bitterness, to be a king over covetousness, to rule these things so that they did not ruled us, the world is full of slaves, slaves to lust and passion, but Jesus has loosed us and made us kings, not only kings but Priest.

Everyone is a Priest in the New Testament, there is no such thing as a special category of people being Priest that is a completely wrong teaching, and it’s the tradition of men which we must throw away. 1 Peter 2:5 teaches the same thing Jesus Christ has made everyone a Priest, in the Old Testament it was different, certain people were Priest but not in the New Testament, in the New Testament every believer is a Priest.

Being a Priest does not mean we have to wear a special dress, no that was in the Old Testament in the New Testament the Priest wears his dress inside, that dress is the garment of holiness, worship the lord, it says in the beauty of holiness not in the beauty of a white, black or purple shirt but in the beauty of holiness, that’s the true Priest of the New Testament.

In the Old Testament the priest used to sacrifice on the Alter, in the New Testament we as Priest sacrifice inwardly, that’s we sacrifice our lust on the Alter so we can please God, we sacrifice ourselves so we can please God.

Also in Rev.1:9; John says; I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the island that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Here we see John calls himself your brother, though he was the only one left among the 12 Apostles the other eleven had died, this Book of Revelation was written about 60 or 65 years after Jesus Christ had risen and gone up to heaven and the Apostle John was the only one left among the Apostles, if ever there was a man who deserved to have some other title than brother it was John, he could have called himself Reverend father or a Pastor or a Pope or something like that but he isn’t, what does this great man who walk with Jesus Christ in the holy spirit for 65 years calls himself? Your brother.

Blessed are we if we can just claim that ordinary brother till the end of our earthly life. Just a brother, an ordinary brother, Jesus Christ is the only one who deserves to be called the head we are just ordinary brothers and sisters. We also are called to hate the deeds and come out of such people if we are to receive commendation from our Lord Jesus Christ in this last days.
