THE Nigeria Labour Congress has denied calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to address the nation on his rumoured death.

Ayuba Wabba, the President of the NLC, said this in a statement issued in on Friday in Abuja.

Wabba was apparently reacting to some media publications credited to the NLC on the alleged death of the President.

He said: “We would want to state emphatically and unequivocally that we did not at any time make such a statement. The reasons for this are quite obvious.

“As an organisation, we do not work on rumours. Secondly, we are aware that Mr President is on leave and that before he proceeded on leave, he handed over to Mr Vice President.

“We also recognise the fact presidential powers and immunity do not cover health. Thus, like any other human being, Mr President could take ill once in a while.

“But most importantly, issues of life and death of any citizen, let alone that of the number one citizen are too sacred to be trivialised.

“We therefore distance ourselves from the rumour mills on the health status of Mr President.”

Wabba said that the NLC wished the President the very best during his holiday in the UK or wherever else he chooses to be.

However, the NLC president advised the media to resist the temptation to misrepresent or sensationalise in order to sell.

He said: “As we look forward to welcoming him back to the country whenever he resumes, we also urge the citizenry not to allow themselves to be put on a panic mode by virtue of unsubstantiated stories in the media.

“President Buhari met all the conditions precedent regarding his absence from office before proceeding on leave to which he is entitled.”

The fear of Buhari is the beginning of wisdom!

Now that it has dawned on them that His Excellence is alive, they all re now in absolute fear and shock!

Majority who wish Buhari death will still lose there life or a close family member before Buhari dies.

Too many hungry and misguided people in this country. You see them flooding newspaper stands consuming ridiculous stories from dubious publications.

Give these kind of people access to social media and this is what you get.

Re: Rumoured Death: NLC Denies Calling On Buhari To Address the Nation by gbigbega: 11:23am On Jan 28, 2017
My issue with this saga is why Buhari will be quiet despite all the seriousness of the news going around. If the presidency is trying to defend the claim by posting pictures, why cant they just ask him to address the nation to so as to stop the rumour and put all this agitation and its resultant effect to rest. President Buhari's action is saying one of these :-
1. He is seriously sick or dead as some have purported
2. He has great disregard for the feelings of the people and don't care what they think, even if the country is going up in flames, He still does what he wants to do.

With the rising poverty in the nation, fulani's herdsmen killing, fuel hick etc If this rumour comes out to be false, I can confidently conclude that we have a president who doesn't give a dam what we feel or go through.
