The University of Benin (UNIBEN) on Friday matriculated 10,000 students for the 2016/2017 academic session.


Speaking at the event the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the institution, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, warned the students that the institution would not condone all forms of nefarious activities.


He urged the students to obey the university rules and regulations and shun evil vices like exam malpractice, drug abuse, cultism, prostitution and immoral activities that may mar your academic journey in the institution as the authority has zero tolerance for any nefarious act and will apply sanctions against defaulters.


The vice chancellor reminded the new students that they were selected out of the over 100, 000 students who applied for admission, as such they must take their studies very seriously.

The sad thing is as little as 5000 would graduate and out of those, about 2000 won't graduate with the original course they came in from

10k is still ok, some schools admit less than 7k.

For a polytechnic to admit more than 10,000 , I wonder how they will cater for the welfare of the students.

I did not know the land mass of Delta state polytechnic and ansu, but I seriously doubt if the welfare system of the school will be ok. To be sincere, the two listed tertiary institutions will be overcrowded.

ABU, OAU and Unilorin that have large land mass do not admit such number of students. Anyways, I accept your fact even if I can't verify the statement due to shortage of data in terms of the statistics of number of intake into tertiary institution.

Land mass? ,what has land mass got to do with admission? I would accept facilities, buh all institutions have enough space to build on,they can expand if they wish, its govt property, buh 10k is really poor sha

I can state very well that corrupt practices in that poly na baba, lol,,,although its a norm in our various institutions,,
