I think February would be too late but I'll respond with the message "the person I can recommend right now is not in the country" and we would see if he gets back to me.

Ok Thanks

Finally here!!! Please, do we have anyone in Quebec here. Moving to Sherbrooke in Quebec with my children on a study visa this December. How's the weather, trnsport system, accommodation , daycare services?

Would be happy to get some responses. Thanks all

Hi.. if it's Sherbrooke in Montreal you mean.. concerning transport, the transport system is very efficient in Montreal. Almost everywhere is connected to the underground metro.. Metro (comes every 3-5mins) is more reliable than buses although the buses are also efficient. I totally enjoyed using the metro.. McGill metro station is the largest with lots of shopping outlets, restaurants, currency exchange etc all underground. There's a metro station just in front of University of Sherbrooke. With a single transport card, you will have full access to the metro and the bus. There're discounts for students and youths. I don't know how true it is but my friend (a student) says Montreal's transport system is second to none in Canada. wink Montreal made me fall in love with Canada sha.. I over explored the city using the efficient metro and my darling Google map. Got lost on few occasions grin

Hello Everyone.

I'm currently looking for flights, please any pointers on good search engines to get the best rates will be very appreciated.

Also is it only at the airport i can apply for my SIN number? If i arrive at 4pm will i still meet the officials processing the SIN number?

Has any one flown with Ethiopian airline? How was your trip? Did you need a transit visa for the layover in Dublin?

You can also use wakanow, cheapflightsdotcom. You can get your SIN from service Canada centers near you. I don't know if the officials handling that have closing hours during weekdays. But make sure you ASK once you get to the immigration officials. I wasn't able to get mine at the airport despite being so keen on doing it, just cause I misinterpreted a directive.
Ethiopian airline is very OK and i would recommend it. There's inflight entertainment in both legs of the trip and very short stop at Addis Ababa. Though you may not enjoy their food, you can request for more of the stuff you prefer. No transit visa required as already pointed out earlier. I had whole row to myself in economy and I slept on all three seats comfortably for the long flight to Toronto

Hi i used them to the UK last year. The in flight entertainment to Casablanca was no it at all. However you will change planes in Casablanca to a bigger one so maybe better entertainment.
Food: i loved their food as my only other flight experience is Kenyan Airways.
Airport : The airport is lovely ,lots of fast food joints and places to eat and wait. My kids had a good time .
Also the kids will get play toys and a bag with puzzle and drawing books. You will get blankets ask immediately you get in.

That's what i would most likely use when am relocating too

Amazing. Thanks a lot.

Hi Nogen,

Please if u don't mind my prying, why Sherbrooke? Hearing it for the first time. What makes it so great? Will you work there or do you expect to commute to Toronto? Or is housing cheap? Pray tell.

One , I have this bad habit of not following the crowd. Two, I'm into French a lot. So, my PhD in Education will be taught in French . Thesis is also in French. Three, the school is among the best in Canada in terms of Postgraduate studies .
4. I don't like big cities . Want some cool place for my studies jare. When I'm done with my studies, will then decide if I want to stay or not. For now, it's all about my studies.

Goodday e-fam
Please is there anyone in this Canny journey, or knows anyone in it who studied Dentistry?
- What are the requirements for evaluation of credentials and which body does that?
- The person is an accompanying spouse and she says one of her friends there had to go back to school for 2years before she could practice. That the path for dentists is different from that of medical doctors. How credible is this please?
- Which province(s) would most likely favor people in such careers?

Personal experiences would be appreciated too. Thanks fam.

For Health professionals, majority of those intending to practise are usually advised to make it a long term career goal, so frustration doesn't set it. Path for dentists is different, different province have their bridging programs in which you would have to take a prior learning assessment.
Province wise, you can work anywhere. Just Google the information you need, the right contents will pop up

Una no vex. I know this is the wrong thread for this but abeg no vex. Please help me torchlight this kweshun. Does anyone know what the rules are for updating family info after receiving ppr but before copr?
I have someone who just got ppr on thursday and was already scheduled to marry on Saturday. As per they had done intro months before and had done the registry app thing and Saturday was d approved wedding date. However ppr came on thursday.
Can he still update his info that he's now married and what are the implications? His timeline from aor to ppr was 4 weeks so it was unexpected.

Hi!

He needs to send a mail back asap, he would be advised to send some documents for the wife, pay her fees, and other things.
If he tries to send the passport, and updates them after, the present visa, Would still be cancelled, Because his COPR Would bear a wrong marital status.

It will take time, Because there would be more scrutiny, but both of them would get PPR together.

He needs to send a mail to the VO first, he would be sent further instructions.

He/she needs to get in contact with the dental board in Canada, that is where all information is.

Yes,the path is totally different from medical doctors. They write a qualifying exam or so, after which they go back to a Canadian university, before they can be licensed and certified.

- Which province(s) would most likely favor people in such careers?

Dentistry is hot cake everywhere, as long as you pass exams

Personal experiences would be appreciated too. Thanks fam.

Hi, the NOC doesn't have to be the same. You can modify your career of choice or make a complete switch when you land. All the best to you and your spouse.

Either WES or IQAS can evaluate dentists' educational credentials and the requirements are on their websites

- The person is an accompanying spouse and she says one of her friends there had to go back to school for 2years before she could practice. That the path for dentists is different from that of medical doctors. How credible is this please? Everything a foreign trained dentist needs to know about career integration in Canada can be found here, http://cda-adc.ca/en/services/internationallytrained/default.asp
- Which province(s) would most likely favor people in such careers? Medical personnel are like air, in demand everywhere. After knowing the general integration requirements from the link above, you then research the specific requirements of different provinces to practise and select the one that appeals to you or simply select a province where you have family/friends for support

Personal experiences would be appreciated too. Thanks fam.

Wow!!! God bless you for taking out the time to write this post. Your opinions are very insightful. I am a final year medical student (will be graduating this year hopefully.. ASUU strike be trying to hold me back but God is in control). I was going to go through the Masters route but based on your post, I may have to reconsider and probably take the UK plab route after NYSC. PLAB is way faster and more affordable than USMLE based on the information I gathered from my seniors. I know a host of medical doctors from my school who had written and passed PLAB within their NYSC year.
I actually thought Masters route was the best pathway. Well, I guess I was wrong.. Thank you for opening my eyes to this..
Just read through your posts again. If I may add, in my opinion, for you the best route would be tp write plab during or just after nysc. For now, jobs are readily available in the uk once you have your gmc license. So with your tier 2 status in the UK and hopefully getting a residency after about a year as a MO, you'll be better prepped for a move to Canada. With a specialist license from the UK, you get a full license here as well and can get a job immediately. However if you don't finish your residency from the UK but you have 2yrs of practice there, or 2yrs of gp residency there and you move here, you can get into the PRA program and sign a 3-4yr return of service contract in exchange for your license in some provinces.
