Life developmental stages are faster now that, at two years, a child has started schooling, unlike the kids of the 90s that need to get to about five years before starting a school.

It is quite evident that education is the key to success, and it is the tool needed to have a brighter future for our community. Today's kids are tomorrow's future and this is why we should give them the privilege to quality education.

A successful kid starts right from when he/she is bored into this earth, and the parents being the architect of their kids, should be responsible for the success of their kids.

Achieving the best and successful education for your kids should be a team work; the teachers, parents, student and community are all part of the team, and this is why, a successful kid will make a successful community, and will be of a benefit to all.
The first school of a child begins at home and the parents being the first teacher of a child, have a lot of work to do, so that their kids become successful.

I will be sharing with you four proven and important ways of improving your kid's performance at school.

1. Choosing a quality School: The best schools situated at any location are not always the most expensive ones, as some schools are quite affordable and offer the best education for your kids. It is the duty of the parents to make some researches about the school they want their child to attend before registering them. The features of a quality school no matter how affordable or expensive they are, include, a quite and serene learning environment, qualitative teachers and a reasonable population of students in each classroom. After choosing a school, parents should endeavour to visit their kid's school, relate with their teachers and get acquainted with the methods used in teaching their pupils/students.

2. Always encourage them: Most parents do not know why their kids need to be encouraged at all times. Words like telling them how much you believe in their success will go a long way in encouraging them. Also, never underestimate their abilities, celebrate their success, but don't overpraise them in the process. When they get encouraged, they equally get motivated to improve more at school.

3. Help them in their reading process: Most kids love to see their parents reading with them, they not only find it interesting, but it helps them understand their books better. When you read with them, they will realise how important it means to see them do well in their studies. Get their school work syllabus for the term, and help them to read ahead of time. Also, when it's almost time for their examinations, help them in the revision of their books, set mock exams for them, and have the mock exams graded. Correct their mistakes, and revise with them again. This will help your kids excel in their exams, and as such, improving their performance at school.

4. Make their learning process interesting: A boring learning process can make learning make learning difficult for a child. Learning aids such as some educational Softwares that can be installed on a computer, can help kids improve their maths skills and vocabularies. Good story books are also learning aids that can improve your kids reading ability.

On final notes, as a parent who wants the best for his/her kid(s), you should lead by example by cultivating the act of reading more often especially when your kids are around you. Your kids will watch and imitate you by doing the same. This will improve the reading habits in them.
